Whats drastic is him needing something to boost his stats. Something he never ever used to do.

He's not a training maniac like Zoro and hasn't been involved in long fights like Luffy to boost his haki. So as they're about to face the strongest crew they've ever faced. So what if it never happened before? He needed a boost this time and it was tied up in an interesting way to what he had to to endure in the past.

It sure was unexpected since he didn't "earn" this power up by training, he earned it by staying true to his ideals against his family. So irony rewarded him by giving him a tool to help him crew and continue to be a perv through that same family.

If he could have let Sanji have a few fights then it wouldnt be as be as unbelievable. Idc tbh how unrealistic it looks for base Sanji to become YC lvl. Worse PL scaling has happened. All Im saying is the RS better not stay.
