"as for Buggy the Bombastic Clown, considering his formidable pedigree and the fact THAT HE GOT THESE TWO TO YIELD TO HIS AUTHORITY"

See the CAPSLOCK part?
It means the bounties are post Cross Guild formation. It also means that Mihawk's bounty is his bounty as a member of Cross Guild. Remember, being in a Yonko Crew can increase your bounty by default.

It's not his strength alone.

Now, if you wanna argue that "being in Cross Guild" is maybe responsible for the 90M, while the 3.5B remaining is purely for his strength, etc, well, good luck with that.
:hapnoel:
Nah, Brannew directly stated that Mihawk's 3.59B is "a fitting total for the World's Greatest Swordsman". I.e. that is the bounty for the WSS, not for being a member of Cross Guild.

That is a much stronger indicator than your speculation that Mihawk's bounty is inflated by his presence in Cross Guild. The manga disagrees with that speculation.

They lucky mihawk didn't want to be leader or buggys 3bil goes straight to him

Thread: Having strong crew boosts bounty of a Yonko.

Forgets: Buggy's 3.1 B bounty despite having Mihawk (3.6 B) and Croc (1.9 B) under him.

Not here to downplay Zoro or Mihawk, but you are trying to refute a dumb take with an even dumber take.

Why is it hard for fans to accept that Mihawk = Shanks. Their duels ended in a draw. That's it. That's as blunt as Oda can get.

Plus, Shanks having inferior sword skills and still managing to end the duels in draw hypes him even more.

No he didnt
Sure irrelevant
Cross Guild is nothing without mihawk
You're arguing mihawk has boosted his own bounty which makes no sense
- 1058 clearly said he did ... you only can half read statement about skill and mistake it with power?
- fuck no fully relevant ... after 957 they issued new bounty for ALL warlords
- it's a place for hunting marine ... Mihawk owe a lot of his bounty for working in such place

Because the WSS title > Yonkou title. It is very simple

Because Shanks is a swordsman and Mihawk is WSS. It is like asking why it is so hard to accept that the earth is flat.....err maybe because that is straight up wrong

?
It said he's more skilled than Shanks

Then said as the world's strongest

So he's more skilled and stronger than Shanks

Cross Guild has 0 hype without mihawk
Which is why his bounty is bigger than the yonko

You are right. But why Oda said their duels ended in a draw? I already said Mihawk > Shanks in terms of swordmanship (if we go with recent debates).

All I need is an explanation for the draw.

Oda never said that. He was silent on the outcome of the duels.
Then why are you contradicting yourself with Mihawk = Shanks. Swordsmanship is the fighting style of a swordsman

  1. It was never stated that their duels ended in a draw.
  2. Mihawk has been unambiguously stated to be the superior swordsman
    1. His title as the World's Strongest Swordsman
      • Reiterated at multiple points throughout the story
    2. His vivre card says that he's waiting for a swordsman that surpasses Shanks
    3. His bounty reveal said that he's superior to Shanks

Mihawk = Shanks is just as baseless a headcanon as Mihawk > Shanks. The only thing that has been unambiguously stated in the manga is that Mihawk > Shanks.

So, how do you explain the "settle things" line when Mihawk visited Shanks with Luffy's bounty poster? Link: Chapter : 96

It could mean all sorts of things.

That Mihawk and Shanks drew in their duels is just a fandom speculation. It's not stated anywhere in the manga.

What is stated unambiguously in the manga is that Mihawk's swordsmanship exceeds Shanks.

Bruh, if it is about Mihawk vs Shanks, then we have to consider that. @Geo
Where it is stated that Shanks lost to Mihawk?
So, we only have this one evidence: "settle things".
And we can interpret it like, Shanks won last time and Mihawk came to fight again.
Or, they were at 1-1 and Mihawk came to fight again to make it 2-1.

This is my interpretition, yours may differ.

We knew that Kaido is stronger and had that unique title, but he still lost to Luffy.
Note: I am not drawing conclusions, I am interpreting what that statement could mean.

Mihawk being stronger in sword skills and being WSS does not mean Shanks has already lost to him in a 1-1 fight. It is his potential and we can speculate that he may win against Shanks. But, we do not have a definite answer.

It will take the full might of an Emperor's crew to match the power of Mihawk

Mihawk is Yonko tier, and he's superior to Shanks

Shanks is the strongest Yonko btw

Mihawk is top 1 in the verse currently

My point is that we don't know whatever happened in their duel so arguing about that is of no use. What is important is that Oda considers Shanks a swordsman yet ranks Mihawk as the strongest swordsman.
