It is such a weird excuse to boot too, openly claiming that your geopolitical rivals can directly influence your politics to the point that they fundamentally undermine your nation's political processes.
Like, who was in charge the last four years? And the 8 years before 2016? Who was responsible for making sure geopolitical opponents couldn't fiddle things? That's right, the Dems. So every time they use that excuse, they're effectively saying "We goofed US security so badly that the Russkies spanked us in our own elections!"
At least Trump's election denial was that it was a domestic opponent that rigged stuff, not a foreign one.
