Hollywood is mostly on left spectrum of the politics .

I dont think Yangs universe basic income would really work. Trust me soviet had this thought as well it kinda didnt work.

His call for automation fear is blown out of propotion. It is true there are automation are used everywhere but its not cent percent reliable.

You still need competant person who needs to work with the automation process. Its simple we improve the skill of workers to use the automation tools.

Yang's argument are rather naive in my opinion.

Dont think sanders will chose him.

I would say he might need a running mate who is more moderate and being labelled as socalist is not a good way only gets trump gets nuking in debate.

Tulsi gabbard seems good choice to me she was in military and a strong woman herself.
Of course Tulsi sounds good to you, she’s every bit the conservative you claim to be. Pete and Biden are also Republicans, since the political machine rewards mediocre white men for failing all the way upward like no other industry on this planet.

By the way, there may be some infighting between liberals in this cultural moment, but trust me...our shared goal is getting your golem out of office. At the end of the day, beating that orange pig will keep us together:sabogood:

I dont want Bernie to win cause dude is 78 years old. I at least want to be sure the President would live long enough to make a difference. The one trying to be Bernie's VP probably views him as free pass to the Presidental seat.
Donnie was 70 when he was elected, and will live forever thanks to whatever deal he made with the Devil to keep that stupid fucking hairstyle. These people all have access to top-notch healthcare - again, money vs poverty - so they live longer and more fulfilling lives...gee, if only there was a candidate who realized that disparity and wanted to implement universal healthcare so we can all improve ourselves...where are we gonna find someone like THAT??

I had the same thought. Mainstream media does not like bernie they are propping up buttigeg . He is young, speaks like obama and gay man that would easily keep him in good books for progressive.

Sander is like those old lion with old Republican thought. Many might say him socialist he is that touch of right winger in him. I would say trump might fear him becausr he connects well with working class .

I like her she is no nonsense approach . Even trump said he would face difficulty if she was the nominee.

Overall i think dem have internal problems with people like ilhan omar, AoC dragging to the far left. Reminds of Jeremy in britain destroyed the labour in that manner.

I see your point, and I acknowledge that it’s valid. Progressive ideologies always scare people because nothing is more terrifying than change; it’s why the Nazis and North Koreans didn’t or don’t rebel against the demagogues at the top, why mess up your own comfort just to make others feel better?

Unfortunately, that same mentality prevents us from moving forward as a society and evolving as a species. We are dumber, fatter, and angrier in this country than we may have ever been, and thanks to these little fucking screens that can show us anything we want to see right away, we’re not gonna pull ourselves up by the bootstraps and suddenly enjoy a renaissance of the human spirit. That’s why someone who rocks the boat like Bernie is equal parts appealing to people like me and appalling to people like you - he’s different, he’s saying things nobody else is saying, and he clearly doesn’t give a shit who doesn’t like it.

Moreover, older people are less willing to adapt new ways of thinking as their time on this planet comes to an end, so they vote to make sure things stay the same until they die. Once they do, the rest of us have to deal with the fallout. Because of choices made by our parents and grandparents, we might not even have a world to pass on to our own descendants...and nobody on the political spectrum, other than Sanders/Omar/AOC, is saying shit about it. Instead, we have a president who puts oil men in charge of the EPA, a bunch of senators that know they’ll just ride out whatever disasters climate change is sure to bring in some luxury underground bunker while the rest of us kill each other for potable water, and the corporations that have led us down this path of destruction run completely unchecked. We’re all going to die a lot sooner than planned thanks to the completely repugnant greed of a few oligarchs, and that just doesn’t sit well with me.

Yep, to a fault so, while they are embedded in a rather conservative environment and system.
It´s basically what makes them feel good for the most part without any merit to it.

You are comparing a communistic system in which they transferred the means of production from those who ran the businesses based on market forces, into the hands of a bureaucracy who made decisions based not on market forces but on politics and cronyism, to a simple money exchange within an already established capitalist system.
Plus they had a state defined income, which is a completely different thing.
UBI is basically, keep the free market, improve everyone´s position in said market by 12.000 dollars per year, that´s it.
And for someone who earns 1000-1500 dollars per month, an additional thousand is huge.

It´s really not buddy. Automation, to fully function independently in every required field, will need a few years, but that does not change that it is coming. The most simple tasks they already fulfill.
There will be a transition period in which "skilled" workers in their field will be a safety option once the automation fails, but once it is almost fail proof, they are gone.
So you will only have people who can do maintenance work on said machines, so mechanics, programmers, electricians and so forth.

Yang does not seem to be the naive one, sorry to say.

I work in a field that will ABSOLUTELY be wholly automated in five years, that topic scares the shit out of me. UBI won’t be enough to ensure I don’t have to go back to working retail...

To be fair most of the automation are not fool proof you still need humans . It is true it will displace 10 people job. The same argument was used when computer was introduced people thought they were going to lose jobs due to rise in computers.

So who is your target for UBI ? Unemployed Job holder who are layed off ? People who are retired? There are slobs who stay at home and dont work.

I mean we dont have proper stats for it.No i didnt mean yang was naive when he said if he becomes president as he thought all about this.

https://news.gallup.com/poll/246278/abortion-trends-party.aspx

This could cost bernie alot of moderate/independent voters, with 29% of democrats considering themselves to be pro-life and 44% of independents.
The pro-life crew only gives a shit about babies making it to 18 so they can be conscripted. Conversely, maybe hearing he’s pro-choice could turn some of the 21 percent of Republicans who identify as such...this knife cuts both ways.

I would say its upto woman to decide to have a child or not.

I know there are time woman face pregnancy complication and died due to the result. The stupid laws exist in ireland since abortion there is illegal there .

However i dont see pro life argument working well in most of the situation.

I rarely seen women taking stand on pro life. All of it comes from grown ass man talking for woman , i dont like how some of the politician talk like they know about it.

Not really there are pro choice voters on either side. Abortion is one of the issue but does not really impact on dems seeing most of the candidate are pro choice.

I have never met a single woman who was pro-life, and I doubt that any ladies who actually are feel that way naturally, I’m sure they all have ultra-religious/domineering husbands who want to continue their lineage unnecessarily. You hit the nail on the head before that, though - I’ve long believed that there are plenty of times when a child coming to term would be the worst possible outcome for literally every person involved. Rape, incest, the mother’s a drug addict or has a health concern...is a chance at an unbelievably shitty and endlessly difficult life better than no chance at all? I’m personally not convinced.

UBI is supposed to give you leeway before the automation wave fully hits the majority of fields in order to prepare yourself and maybe choose options and opportunities you would not have without it. It´s not the problem solver but an enabling function.
Having said that, he is the only dude who is actually looking at it, none of the dems actually acknowledge it since they do not want to seem anti-progress and technology (which Yang is not either btw, it´s not a black or white thing) and it is easier and more populist to simply blame stupidity and racism for Trump winning.

Yeah like i said, he does not stand a chance at this point, his biggest hope was Iowa where he ended up failing completely really.
His biggest chance is now to endorse Sanders, which he already did on the side.

So All women have natural instinct that tells them aborting babies is right. :whitepress:
But ultra-patriarchs trick them into believing aborting is evil.

Buddy, you are looking at it too linearly.
To give you an example, i work in a steel company that both has a mill and forging plants and rolling plants.
The major rolling plant had 8 people operating the 8 rolling lines with joy sticks basically per shift, with four shifts, and two additional guys to take over so that the 8 guys 2x1 hour breaks. Now the 8 lines are automated, and there is only one guy per shift to represent a fail switch option and to react once something goes wrong. That´s 9 guys gone out of 10 per shift, or 36 out of 40, which is 90%.
Of course now you have an additional electrician and programmer per shift to look over the machines, but 1) that´s just 10% or so, the other 80% are gone, and 2) these guys do not come from those that worked at the rolling lines. They are average 45 years old who have acquired a very specific manual skill you can not use anywhere else and do not have the leeway to become mechanics and electricians quickly.
And this is just one specific example.

Everyone, do you even know something about it?

He didn´t though, like i said, he actually has the most policies out of any candidate, it´s simply UBI is the most important one.

Yeah your friends are how old now?

I agree with your facts . Its just industralist decision to have automation in place or not.

I agree the main work force power in industry are not needed. My uncle was laid off from well known plant which make iron ore .Industry went with automation .

However i do partially agree people 40-50 kust not be removed from company its dofficult to startover in new field. He had a son who was attending college, had to use those lay off saving on his sem tutions . He is working as electrician as primetime and has carpooling business.

It sucks overall when people above 40s get layoff no one takes them.

However i think UBI sure can work people like my uncle he can have benefits from monthly expenses.

Well my friends are around 30s they are just fed up with manual routine jobs.

Well we cant say . We all thought biden would abs smash with this election. Creepy uncle Joe cannot even get 4th spot in New Hampshire.

I read he did not attend last night meeting and head to South Carolina in desperate mode.

I would say Bernie would be a challenge for trump because on base both have same core agenda of anti establishment and voice of common man was lost. Bernie connects with rural voters really well which i think trump could actually fear.

Trump cant keep up with 'socalist'bernie barbs.

It´s both safer (both in terms of human safety and production risks and failing rate) and cheaper in the long run.
Those 8 workers get 50.000 before taxes a year plus tax free shift additions, so for an employer it comes around to more than 100.000 Euros/Dollars per year. 32 gone, that´s 3.2 million per year, not to forget additional benefits employees get like sick leave, food and so forth.
There is a sweet spot for automation, meaning in terms of efficiency of production and the cost benefit, and it´s about 70-80% right now depending on the industry, so 20-30% still comes from human labor.
Whether that´s gonna stay the same, who knows.

Directionally complicated labor, and decision regarding unpredictable events, human labor will still be needed for a long time.
The rolling line i talked about for example, it´s very predictable work, you have a certain rolling passes plan, and you get through that by the instruction.
But stuff like mechanic, plumbers, electrician and so forth, more difficult.
So the ones in danger are those that do repetitive and seemingly easy tasks, production line workers, call center, retail and so forth.
You can look at it as bleak, or you can look at it as opportunity for society to evolve to the next stage in which maybe, we do not need to work that much to live a somewhat fulfilled life, but if you have more material needs and wishes, you need to acquire a higher degree of skill and knowledge.
Right now we almost have a society in which the winners take it all and the non-winners are automatically losers.
Winners should still be winners, but we have to define what winning is, and not Bezos owning more wealth than the GDP of most countries out there, and those that can´t win for some reason, they should not be losers trying to simply survive.
And UBI is not a complete solution for that, but it´s a beginning.
