What should Whitebeard have done about Teach after he murdered Thatch and escaped, instead of doing nothing to hunt him down nor to recall Ace to his side, with the disastrous consequences we know ?

What actions should he have taken to make sure that Teach didn't get away from his murder of Thatch and prevent him from becoming a big threat ? Who could he have sent after him instead of Ace ? Could he have made an agreement with Shanks and/or the other Yonkos about Teach ?

He should have mobilized his own ships with 16 commanders and chased Blackbeard down.

Whitebeard should’ve hunted him down himself.
Even if Ace was Teach’s division commander, Teach’s crime was against the WBP organization as a whole by killing a commander of a different division as such it should’ve been Whitebeards responsibility to deliver punishment.

I'm fine with saying he couldn't do shit. This man plotted for twenty years and priority #1 was staying out of reach before the right time. Ace by himself could move a lot easier than whitebeard and Blackbeard decided not to run when confronted
