DUNE: PART TWO

5/5

Please see this film in the cinema! Don't wait to see this at home, this film deserves to be seen on the big screen and it is a reminder of why we go to the cinema. Its cautionary tale of religious fanaticism and a visual and audio treat! I liked the book and I was extremely happy with the way Denis adapted this.
I watched it. Great and epic movie. 10/10. Going to be one of the best movies of 2024 for sure.
Dune Part Two on IMAX was an experience, 10/10.

Insane acting from everyone on the cast, perfect score, the direction was sublime.

AS IT WAS WRITTEN!!!
Saw Dune, what a movie

I live next to a true IMAX so maybe I'll check it out a 2nd time
I assume you guys will watch the upcoming dune tv show?

Fargo.

10/10.

The Coen brothers are so good at creating absurd and diverse characters that cause so complicated and nonsense situations without knowing how they did it. Frances McDormand is very good and easy to root for, while William H. Macy and Steve Buscemi are excellent as pathetic idiots who cause lots of evil and mayhem due to how stupid and over their head they are in their schemes, and Peter Stormare is excellent as the perfect sociopath who causes most of the darkness in the film.

The music and filmography also are top.

Dune 2 was amazing but I don’t give it a 10/10 because of the end which was kinda rushed

And the great milking begins !
As long as they milk something good and the milking is good, I don´t think there is an issue since on the creative side you have people that still want to continue, as far as I understand it was pushed by Villeneuve.
The issue becomes when studios push projects for a franchise ahead based on success and hire mercenaries that have no interest in the source material, that´s what´s been mostly happening with big franchises.

Movies that I love regardless of genre and have watched several times, and holds up each time but that could be just me, plus I watch a lot of non-English movies:

Wild Tales (Argentinian)
Parasite (Korean)
Lady Vengeance (Korean)
Winter Sleep (Turkish)
Princess Mononoke
The Great Beauty (Italian)
The Fountain
Stalker (Russian)
Paprika
The age of innocence
Midnight in Paris
Amelie (French)
Secret in their eyes (Argentinian)
Leila´s Brothers (Iran)
2001 space odyssey
Sicario
Before trilogy
Lord of the rings trilogy
Force Majeure (Swedish)
Inherent Vice
Some of these, like Space Odyssey, seem a little old. But I'll still try them.

It wasnt my thing.
I dont get what the hype about it is.
Its a pretty "cold" movie but the scope philosophically speaking is unprecedented.
A lot of Kubrick movies are emotionally pale.

Ok understandable, some old movies are really unwatchable.
Then I recommend only looking at the ones starting with the 90s.

You all liked Dune 2 so much? Whoa, it’s 6/10, 7 at best, I didn’t like it for being a snoozefest at times, and also making Chani so antagonistic towards Paul, have no idea why showrunners deviated from the source material so much with her character.
I mean, it’s an okay movie compared to the rest of cinema garbage, but it is not even that good to get 10/10 for me. The previous part also had its problems, but it was more engaging for me. And there arr way too many deviations from the book.

last movie that I absolutely loved seeing in the cinema was Ford vs Ferrari, I think way back in 2019? Anyways, the movie theater shows aren’t of a good quality nowadays, and it’s a little sad.

I didn’t really enjoy Dune to be honest.

I like how the point of the film is to say « beware of leaders for politicians are almost all playing the game of politics for themselves ». This is a good thing to say. But aesthetically the desert looks too dirty for me and the film heavily relies on the sound design it seems. Production Design isn’t that creative. The Batman has really great and cool production design in comparison. Also it’s a bit repetitive especially the Nika wanking, ugh I mean Muadib. I like dark art, but not always apparently. I wouldn’t say this is bad at all but I was expecting more from the « best sci-fi novel » even though I haven’t finished reading it lmao

Yes! I mean, it's a fairly good movie, it has its moments, but it definitely isn't best of the best. And tbh, the Muadib wank in the book is the same, that's what centuries of Bene Gesserit brainwashing can do to you. I also realized that I'm too tired of "the chosen one" trope, that's why a lot of objectively cool moments like Paul riding the biggest worm ever seem like yet another cliche. But maybe I'm just getting old and grumpy 😀

I think it depends on how invested you are in lore of dune in general. My brother was a causal watcher it was okayish to him. I am invested in dune lore and know more about it hence enjoyed it way more.
