Questions & Mysteries Who are the Holy Knights?

#62
This was my take on the Gorosei not long ago:
At this point I think the question isn't "Are the Gorosei fighters or not?" but rather "How strong are they?"

We know for a fact that Mary Geoise has security services, meaning there's some kind para-military training in that Land.

Now, even tho Celestial Dragons are royalty and not prone to make a career out of hard work, I think the scars on some of the Gorosei indicate that they are the few CDs that reached such a high position by also showing proficiency on the battlefield.

They are old and their main asset is probably their strategic mind and decision making, but I doubt that they are plain politicians. I expect all of them to be renowned and honoured Celestials with exceptional careers in the World Governament. A combination of:
  • History & Politics Studies
  • Military Training & Experience
  • Blood Nobilty

BUT they are not strong as Admirals, Borsalino is clearly acting as a bodyguard in this situation. Only other characters really comparable to Admirals, in different degrees, are:
  • Sakazuki, former Admiral and current Fleet Admiral
  • Sengoku, former Fleet Admiral
  • Kong, current Commander in Chief
  • Garp, current Vice Admiral
Still, Gorosei must be notable fighters even at their old age. Probably smarter than tougher.
Because I've always expected the Celestial Dragons to not be just a collective bunch of spoiled cunts, but rather a human population with some talents (i.e Doflamingo) like every other population.

Now, I still think that Gorosei should be considered a threat, but seen their ages I expect them to be wiser and more invested in the political side, while Holy Knights are operatives.

Overall the Elders and the Knights should come from a similar background, if not the same. Elders might have been Knights in their youth...

The Holy knights could be Gargoyles a fantasy / horror Monster, which are Statues physically coming to life. I came to this Idea because people kept referring to this panel with said Statues.

Gargoyles are also often guardians of places such as cathedrals or castles

From the Silhouettes in Chapter 1083 we know, that at least one of them wields a Sword.

People on Twitter also kept bringing up the Cover of Chapter 699 they call it a foreshadowing by Oda to said Knights.

Interestingly enough, Luffy has a Sword while Sanji has a Spear/Lance like weapon, maybe it tells us that the 9 Knights are different type of Weapon specialists? Usopp holding a Bow could be a little stretch though, because i can't see anything that resembles a bow in the hands of the Statues above, but who knows. Having a strong Bow User in One Piece that Usopp could face, would be cool.

Not like these weaklings below

Probably won't come true, but i thought i throw it in here.

That would be crazy.

But I think @Apollo stated that these 10 statues are the statues of the first 10 founders of the WG. The Reverie hall is separated by two sections so we could have see the latter 10 statues on the upper stairs.

What a rookie mistake on my Part. Was all excited writing this that i forgot to even count the Statues,
9 Knights - 10 statues, yeah doesn't add up at all

:milaugh:
that 10 founders of the WG sounds way more interesting. But i'am still liking that Gargoyle statues coming to life thing, because there used to be an animated Series about them. I loved watching that as a kid such cool concept and designs

I don't know who they are but it's super obvious that they're the Tobi roppo force of the WG.
After this chapter it's hard to say that the Navy is a major part of the WG forces, they won't be defeated at the same time and place.

- Captain - Imu
- Elite commanders - Gorosei
- Veterans - Holy Knights
- Seraphim as Pacifista
- Fodder - Cipher pol

They're more and more shaped like a crew.
Nah, Ciphor Pol would be it's own thing like the Impel Down staff. Subordinate captains at best. Seraphim would be the Numbers/Jailer Beasts.

Probably an elite group of at least 8 individuals that protect the gorosei or Imu specifically. Their power lvl should be around yc or slightly higher. They can be even retired marines like kong. Basicaly are glorified security men who reside almost exclusively in mariejoa or act as escorts of the gorosei/Imu wherever they go.

Now that we've learnt Imu has 9 special guards named "God /Holy Knights"

What do you think their main tasks are?
Do they live in Mariejois or all over the world?
What are they?

For me one is obviously related to Shanks --> his name is Thanks (lol)
Dragon could have one of the God Knights too!
It will explain why he knows so much about Mariejois and WG.

@RayanOO @Playa4321 @Steven @Paperchampion23 @bangoo @SDfear
My theory is that they are former government employees/Marines who had the immortality surgery performed on them for their "heroic deeds". So, characters from centuries ago. It's possible that they are Celestial Dragons, or from families that have served the celestial dragons for years(it's theorized that Shanks is part of one of those).

I believe they know about Imu, and are the primary bodyguards of him and the Gorosei.

I think they have potential to be the endgame opponents for some of Luffy's allies in the final war. Maybe a few of the Straw Hats will fight them.

Mary Geoise is definitely their home base, but they probably spend lots of time in other countries that can't pay the heavenly tribute.

I hope they all have unique designs and personalities

The Holy Knights got more combatant hype than the Gorosei ever had in 1 chapter. You want to talk about tropes but ignore that.

The Gorosei might be reasonably strong, but there’s no reason to believe they’re the only guards of Imu. Specially if it’s revealed that Imu’s assistant is a holy knight, or that the Gorosei are former knights.
at the very least the bald gorosei is a world class swordsman. take everything we know about cursed swords after wano, hes had shodai kitetsu for like 20 years without dying. even with zero combat feats thats imprressive

It was naive to think that Imu didn’t have additional fighters to protect the so called Ruler of the world. Oda really is trying to have the biggest war conflict the series has ever had in the final saga. Here for it.
Oda won't be able to handle the cast very well
There will be too many characters and side(mini) plots to resolve!

I'm afraid it'll be worse than Wano

Other than shanks rest of them dont match up. One of em has horned and another with cowboy hat .
i dont really see horns or a cowboy hat. but i can see how people see that. i think the horns guy is just spiky hair and the cowboy hat is something similar. goofy hair or eyebrows
Post automatically merged:

specifically shanks is saying hes going to snatch away/steal the one piece (with the connotation of dispossessing other people of the treasure more than taking it for himself), kaido/big mom say they're going to take it in a very general sense, and buggys talking about catching it like you would a beetle

Doubt it, after all this time of holding back, Oda can let go with the characters we’ve been waiting to see in action and more importantly story resolution. Too many key players involved for it to be boring and even these current chapters are proving that.

Of course there’s no way to satisfy the tons of fanbases that are out there for characters, it’s impossible. Just sit back and enjoy
