By the fact that the Elders been there since the beginning of the story while the knights are a newly introduced throwaway force that people will overrate as they always do. Literally only meant to add numbers.

What do you think their main tasks are?
Do they live in Mariejois or all over the world?
What are they?

For me one is obviously related to Shanks --> his name is Thanks (lol)
Dragon could have one of the God Knights too!
It will explain why he knows so much about Mariejois and WG.

And what substantial evidence do you have to say that the Holy Knights are a Top Tier fighting force ?

Dragon saying the real battle starts when they join can mean a variety of things. They're also not just a few members but an entire unit. They also aren't a mystery as Akainu and Tensei know them so they officially fall below the Admirals title of being the strongest combat force of the WG.

Don't overhype these guys.

but one could simply argue Dragons face and panel implies they’re a serious military force. If they weren’t he wouldn’t react like that

I mean, I can see the Gorosei being somewhat competent, especially Gandhi and the young guy. And the older scarred ones may be, or have been, Holy Knights themselves.

But Dragon’s not caring if they are deployed, he cares about these guys.

One interesting thing would be if each Gorosei has some sort of specialisation.

Gorbachev- the main Gorosei, probably Jupiter, all-round leader
Saturn- science, hence him going to Vegapunk
Gandhi- call him Mars, commader of the Knights
Young Guy- Mercury, commander of CP0
Tall thin guy- Venus, dunno. Historian? Marine Liaison? A counterpart to Saturn being science.

But if I’m to pick between Gorbahev and shadowy sword man as the strongest fighter, I’m picking shadowy sword man.

I'm trying to be logical here. We have a Shounen manga in which these old mysterious farts with battle scars rule the evil opressor of the world for at least decades. Of fucking course I'm assuming they'll be more relevant as fighters than a new force thrown in a thousand chapters later.

Think of it this way, what purpose would the Gorosei serve the narrative if they aren't strong. They haven't been present at the void century while Imu was so they're likely just taken the position through their families.
