He around pre-timeskip Teach.
The thing about Blackbeard is, is that he can't be properly scaled..... Shanks hinted there is more than him that meets the eye. He was getting ragged by Ace until Oda went off panel. He drops to his knees by a preskip bazooka, but takes a Buddhist palm from Sengoku with no problems. He dropped from a slash by Whitebeards bisento, but gets up right after a full powered Quake blast to his face... He's able to almost sink Marineford to the ground after having WB's fruit for less than 5 minutes....

The dude is all over the place....

I think we are at a point where Oda wouldn't introduce new characters without a good reason.

Like Garling, for instance.

I assume the warlord is either between someone we know or just a random nobody who will never be introduced.
I mean the man with the burn scar is obviously a new character at this point so the person who has the 4th Poneglyph being someone who Ace defeated would make sense. You have the fact that they have a burn or flame shaped scar. Yoy also have the fact that the 4th RP was in FI, territory under Whitebeard at the time that it was likely taken.

Thats my guess. I have a feeling all of the silver medalists flocked under this guy after Ace and WB died since there is that connection at least.

Would be lame af if he was some weakling who lost to Ace. How is he supposed to be a challenge for Luffy

Because he doesnt need to be one lol. We already have 3+ antagonists after Egghead, we dont necessarily need the Burned Scar Man to be yet another arc antagonist if thats not what he's meant to be. For all we know, he could be a joke like Orochi or 8n the end, an ally (i doubt this, just playing devils advocate)

Anyway, just my 2 cents on that. This person had to have received his scar at least 1 year before the timeskip, since Aokiji making a joke about it being him and Black Beards crew saying his was too recent. 4-5 years ago tracks with it if Ace burned the guy badly.

Edit: and yes, sure, he or any other silver medalist could just get stronger. Nothing implies they cant.

Either a nobody.... or possibly one of the Blackbeard Pirates that got recruited??? Doubt it though, we'll probably never learn in canon....

People sleep way too much on Ace's strenght.
The character had a Logia DF, was a martial arts specialist, had all types of haki and was put as second commander of WB as soon as he accepted his fate.
Tying or losing to Ace is not shamefull at all.

Agreed. I think Ace used to be around Doffy's level more of less.

As WB said, Teach is careless and overconfident as part of his character he doesn't give a shit about anything he just cares about having fun. Thats why he always get hit at the beginning of the fights until he gets serious, but since his body is special and he is extremely durable, it doesn't really matter. Even Law's attack that can hurt Big mom, didn't matter Teach still won despite giving a free hit to Law's Awakening. The only time it mattered vs. Magellan since you can't tank chemical attacks in One Piece as we see from Zolo vs Yeti Cool brothers or Jack using poison vs Neko/Inu at the end.

When he is serious he only needed 1 barehand to block a mountain slash from S-Hawk, not 2 hands, it didn't even paper cut or pushed him back, thats how good Teach's serious defense is, thats why Shanks hyped DFless Teach.
He around pre-timeskip Teach.
Teach was just trying to recruit Ace even at the end of their fight, still didn't kill Ace and delivered him alive despite we know Teach killed 4th division commander Thatch before. Teach was holding back vs prime Ace a lot, so he low-diffed him.

If Teach wanted, he would break Ace's neck like he was going to break Hancock's, or he would simply use his pistols or his metal claw to finish the fight easily, just used barehands, he was trying to show his superiority to Ace so he could recruit him.

Shanks have same Fighting Style as Roger, and apparently Shanks Fights with a Flaming Sword
If that's the Case, then Roger probably can also make his Sword covered in Flames
(I mean if Luffy have a Flaming Attack, and so does Shanks, and Roger's Son who is Named after his Sword have Fire Powers, then Roger probably Fought with a Flaming Sword as well)

This suggests that Man With Burn Scar is Someone who once Fought Roger, just like We previously had Kaidou who was given a Scar by Oden, Roger should have such Foe as well, and it's probably Xebec (Who Oda made sure to show us that He is a Forgotten Pirate, only Oldies Remember him)

If this Man With Burn Scar Crew is Captained by Someone Defeated by Roger (Whirlpool Ability indicates He have Davy Jones-Like Powers)
Then imo it makes sense that He will have a Crew Member who was Defeated by Ace, Someone who also lost his Fearsome Reputation, and as i said before, it could probably be User of Vampire DF (Patrick Redfield)

So if this Crew is made up of Disgraced Top Tiers, who would it make sense They'd recruit? Kid ofc, that's why Oda made Kid look for him.
And who else? Moria, Magellan, Weevil ... etc

Basically Captain Defeated by Roger, Commanders each Defeated by Someone Super Famous, Moria Defeated by Luffy, Magellan Defeated by Blackbeard, Weevil Defeated by Marines, Kid Defeated Shanks, maybe Shiki Defeated by Garp/Sengoku ... etc

A Crew Made-Up of Davy Jones-Like Captain, Poison Demon, Dracula, Frankenstein Monster, Zombie Man, Iron Monster ... etc
Basically Nightmarish Crew which fits their Theme as a Black-Only Ship that doesn't leave any Witnesses

Lol it is clearly said why he didn't kill Ace. It definitely wasn't a low-diffing, Blackbeard also was taking damage. Teach only overpowered him at the end when they did that DBZ clash of Devil Fruits.

Queen?

Got kicked out of government science projects only to be hired as freelancing secret researcher as warlord?

His missing arm might have been burned away as well as some lower parts of his body

Ace even burned WB's hand, blocked Aokiji's sneak attack, of course he was going to do that much. But Teach's damages was minimal while Ace almost got his neck broken with 1 punch, he was overpowering him right after he started to take him seriously. Thats why he was asking Ace to join him in the middle of the fight. How many fights did you see someone asking another guy to join him as an underling in the middle of the fight if they are not obviously superior.

Teach used pistols vs WB, and he used metal claw vs Shanks. Low-diff if you consider the fact Teach could use his pistols or metal claw to finish the fight earlier instead using barehands, but choose not to. Then delivered him alive at the end and still didn't kill him despite he could also stole Ace's precious logia DF and give it to Burgess.
