Questions & Mysteries Why did WB run away?

Why did Rocks monster trio run away?

  • Because Garp > Loger obviously

  • Because Oda is smoking crack and doesn't know wtf he's writing anymore

  • Because they wanted to save Shakky duh (reading comprehension nerd cope)

So my point was made? Damn if he did and damn if he didn't?
I really don't get the cope. Are you really saying there wouldn't have been a better way to handle Whitebeard's reaction? Whitebeard out of all people? Garp doesn't even care about Whitebeard. Literally only coming to God Valley to encounter Roger, while treating Whitebeard as a Rocks rat no different from any other, as @ZenZu phrased it.

Compare WB who looks like just an average Rocks pirate to Vergo, who was portrayed as someone in a different universe from the rest of his crew.

There is no cope. WB's reaction is just as normal as his reaction to Navy ships he can easily destroy again and again.

WB facing Garp would by portrayal be taken his whole focus.

WB actually taking down Garp would cost GV going down as collateral damage due to his powers.

And Whitebeard called Garp an old feeble soldier in Marineford, and proceeded to ignore him to fight the Admirals instead.
Funny nobody mentions that huh?

You know any island Whitebeard stands on going down, would result in Whitebeard sinking to the bottom of the sea, not Garp.

Can't wrap my head around people defending Whitebeard's display.

Which was nothing more than a means to boost his crew's morale in the war, nothing more, nothing else. Sure, we can do mental gymnastics regarding 15 year old panels, or we look at this week's chapter.

The people who consistently wank characters based off things from over a decade ago are now yelling at me for doing that same thing. Lmfao

Literally in this thread we have someone mentioning a character that died 5 arcs ago yet that's fine, but I do that with Whitebeard in Marineford and it's a crime?

The difference is that WB and Vergo both died in an epic way, but WB was brought back through flashbacks to end up taking L´s. If we saw a flashback where Vergo was just another jobber in the Doffy pirates, instead of a monster like he was portrayed as, it would change how we view Vergo. But that never happened.

Not even close to my point but thanks for nothing. Take it somewhere else, though, this isn't a thread about Doffy or his crew.

Oda could've made Whitebeard look less pathetic anyways. It's Whitebeard we are talking about. Could've let Whitebeard and Garp have an equal clash before Whitebeard said he has no time dealing with Garp in a calm demeanor, instead of immediately having a run for his money with whitened eyes.
That's why he gave him a clash with Pirate King instead...
...who is Garp's equal. :quest:

Of course that´s related to your point. They were criticizing you for using old material for WB, and you brought up Vergo dying 5 arcs ago. I pointed out it wasn´t the same.
Take it to the Vergo discussion thread, then. This isn't the right thread.
Moving on..
