But characters are written with limitations, such as what they're aware of, for example, Luffy believed he was a Paramecia, even though he's actually a Zoan, in fact Luffy literally stated that he wasn't a Zoan before, which was wrong.

It is pretty useful, especially if you have logia properties and can effectively shape shift around attacks. Though if two top tiers with high stats and Haki meet, of course, specific applications of Haki don't get highlighted anymore. Similar to Luffy vs. Kaido, ACoC didn't look so overwhelming anymore, because it wasn't one character dominating another one, but both simply equally clashing. But in Kaido we witnessed, that even without shape shifting and with a large body, future sight helps in avoiding even a fast barrage of attacks, like Snakeman's attacks.
