That means it's in the most elite class. This should be enough.

That means it's > any supreme grade blade, that's not black

Why the fuck would it be so the make of the sword before anyone uses it, pre-determines the blades limit?

When the whole point is that only the swordsmen can forge it into a black blade, not any blacksmith, it's the pinnacle that only the wielder can achieve.

This is why I think the idea of a blade rising within the meito system upon being black is irrelevant, it can be argued that the statement made about enmas rank being raised doesn't have to necessarily mean it would become supreme grade, but black blade is another grade entirely.

Or that even if it was the case that shusui was below great than made into great grade, because it's been forged into a kokuto it possesses qualities that surpass the initial make of even the supreme grade blades, which is why black blades are the most elite.

Either way they are stated to be the most elite, not supreme grade blades.

Oda likely didn't want "weak" pre-ts Zoro to get his hands on a supreme grade yet, and it's possible that during Thriller Bark the concept of black blade was not as developed in Oda's mind.
If any this suggests Oda does pay attention to the grade of a sword if he purposely gatekept a protagonist from wielding one until he's worthy of it.

Using this Logic, then according to Manga, We don't know any Supreme Blade yet, except Shodai Kitetsu which isn't Confirmed to be Nusjuro's,
All We know is that there are Two Confirmed Black Blades so far, One of them is National Treasure of Wano & belongs to Sword God, while other belongs to WGS,

Since We can only use Direct Statements from Manga, then i can simply Answer this Thread by saying that Oda haven't Introduced any Supreme Blade yet.

Simple to make mihawk sword the strongest and highest grade in the story.

This fandom is convinced Oda has planned 95% of the manga when it's likely a lot closer to 50%, with the rest being made up as he goes, adjusting and changing with time.

Black blades are not a well thought out concept.

Haki is not a well thought out concept.

So much of One Piece is Oda being resourceful with his own lore, e.g. Supernovas weren't meant to be a thing until they were made up late in the game of pre-skip.

If Oda had to do it all over again, I'm sure this would have been a Nidai Shusui or only 1 of 2 swords Ryuuma carried.

Grades of blade doesnt matter. Sword god will always be greater than mortal WGS.
Even Someone like Roger who was called as "PINNACLE OF HAKI" by none other than WSC Kaido does not have a black blade means a lot.

I think Oda wanted to give Zoro a special blade but it was too early to give him a supreme grade blade cus he wanted only top tiers to have those so he just made Shusui a lower grade but also special by making it a black blade.

I wouldn't be surprised if later on we get more Ryuma lore and he ends up having another blade that was supreme grade or something.
