Break Week Why was Mihawk‘s presence in Marineford so lackluster?

Either:

1) Oda has little interest in Mihawk's character plot wise.

2) Oda is going out of his way to hide how powerful Mihawk really is.

Given he is not an opponent for Luffy in the future I'm inclined to think 1.

Only way I see 2 happening is if Oda makes a twist that Mihawk has been part of the WG/Celestial Dragon all along. Something like the secret right hand to the secret ruler of the world (Im). It would both make him relevant in the final war due to him being a legit obstacle to the Strawhats and give Zoro's dream more narrative weight since beating Mihawk will help bring about the Dawn of the world, continue the trend of Zoro fighting the strongest subordinate and make Mihawk's speech to Zoro at Baratie that much more significant.

yall don't want a Zoro/Mihawk epilogue fight btw. That would be HORRIBLE. Guaranteed it would last two chapters at most and widely considered one of the most disappointing conflicts in shonen history.

Whitebeard, Akainu, Shanks etc. had real top tiers vibes. You knew these guys were the deal

But Mihawk felt so non threatening based on his performance. If you removed his title you‘d think he was a high tier

Thoughts?
He was only there to test whitebeard and as soon as whitebeard had jozu step in to block an unnamed low tier slash for him he knew whitebeard had fallen from his peak and wasn't there to give him an epic 1v1. After that mihawk just kind of took it easy and watched everything play out

Sadly the top tier other than Mihawk got a decent showing in Marineford.

Vista was smiling while facing him and Whitebeard even smiling when Mihawk send those unnamed slash earlier in the war
Vista was smiling attacking 40 times a second while mihawk parried every hit absentmindedly while watching other shit lol

what a lackey blocking his attack should be embarrassing, imagine bigmom sending an attack towards kaido but queen blocks it does that mean kaido as fallen since queen blocked for him or the attack was so weak that queen thought it was not worth the time of kaido

What you are ignoring is that that lackey perfectly counters that type of attack. Nothing embarrassing about it. Whitebeard got blocked by a wall. So what? Embarrassing? Hardly.

- Mihawk was one of the only characters making it out without a scratch.

- Mihawk correctly assessed Luffys current power, development and future threat. Only WB did the same.

- Doflamingo, YC-range, was surprised by Mihawk attacking. Might be due to his reserved nature though but it felt a bit like it was unusual for such a strong man too actually reveal his strength and attack. Nobody gave a crap when anybody else attacked except WB himself, Garp or the admirals which should indicate Mihawks level.

- Mihawk had a stale mate against Vista, true. Mihawk also had a stale mate against Crocodile. Jozu stopped Mihawks slash. All rather strong characters so no real shame in that. But in my view none of it means anything because , in my view once more, Mihawk didn't really try. Mihawk was there fulfilling his obligations to the WG, assessing Luffy, assessing WB. I think he might be a hidden member of Shanks crew or that he has other ulterior motives.

It's fascinating to me that "supposed" Zoro fans would want Mihawk to do absolutely nothing except fight Zoro at the absolute end of the series. Like actual zero prevalence in the endgame lol.

Like what if somehow, he and Shanks' relationship involved more than just "friendly" duels? How much does Mihawk know about Shanks' ulterior motives? Why is Mihawk so reclusive?

Realize that his only KNOWN relationship is with a Yonko is going to be relevant after Kaido. He lost his Shichibukai title and a final war is nearing the series' closure.

You want Mihawk to be relevant in the endgame, you best believe he will be tied to some faction by the end, even if it's just a temporary alliance with Shanks or some other group.

I say this shit as an actual fan of Luffy, Zoro, Mihawk and Shanks. I've been arguing that they ARE the endgame to this series. The 2 absolute last fights. The series big climax. Not some nonsense that shits Mihawk as a character or some exclusionary event for Zoro in the endgame. That will not happen, the story is about Luffy. It will end with Luffy.
Mihawk isn't allowed to talk or interact with any other character. Having zoro sound like an extremely jealous partner

It's how plot affects characters.

If it's not your rodeo then you will get less importance even if by yourself you are an important character.

Like smoothie being stronger than Cracker but having a jokeful impact compared to cracker.

Interesting thing about Doflamingo is that when Mihawk showed up at the Warlord meeting after Crocodile's defeat it was Doffy who showed surprise at his appearance. Could very well be a coincidence but it's curious to me that the guy who knows the secrets of the World Government has been surprised everytime Mihawk makes a move.
