General & Others Why Zoro is the first mate

There is a lack of understanding of Zoro, even from Zoro fans.
Vice-captain is position that signifies number 2. That's not Zoro.
Fighting with candies over who gets to be the number 2 is silly.

Zoro doesnt want to be number 2, a guy who always aims at the top.
As we saw in FI, he said he would have to take over as captain.
At no point, did Zoro want to be the number 2. He is either 1 or nothing.

While he may appear as first mate/vice captain to outsiders, he isnt one.
The reason is simple, Zoro doesnt settle down for number 2.
That's why Oda never made him into VC/FM.

He can act as captain/vice-captain/first mate when the situation requires but that's it.
If Oda eventually declares officially who the VC/FM of the Strawhats is, I am sure it wont be Zoro.
Usopp and Jinbe are far more likely candidates for it.

Zoro edges Sanji out as the right-hand man.

I have no issue with it but it's still too soon to say that Oda genuinely estimates them as a monster trio.

The crew is still expanding and so the theory is not future-proof yet.

What if Yamato or Jinbe will demonstrate fabulous military support while Sanji will get out of the scene for the simple fact he doesn't care about fighting nor it should be of his interest since all he aims for is the All Blue.

On the other hand Yamato has the traits of a warrior, expecially for following the steps of Oden.

Feeling insecurities? Having doubt? Whoever calling Sanji first mate probaly reading two three four piece...

sanji is the only one canonically lead the crew and oda even nicknamed the group twirly hats i don’t think he ever done that to zoro

oda chose sanji when he was showcasing killer and bepo

sanji was leading the marines

duval became his subordinate

sanji throughout the series turned people into allies which is the quality of a leader as seen with duval,g5,viola and pudding

zoro is luffys right hand man no doubt but when it comes to leading the straw hats sanji is the best choice after luffy

We're 900 chapters in, it's not too soon for anything. It's pretty much too late for anyone who still can't figure this out.

No flavor of the month cool new addition will change anything about Zoro's or Sanji's well established place in the crew, as there's no going back to replace them in Logue Town, Alabasta, Enies Lobby, Thriller Bark or Sabaody as the two main pillars that have supported Luffy through out his journey.

It's officially confirmed that Zoro is the number two, the 2nd strongest, the vice captain, the first mate or whatever you want to call the one who is by far the strongest right after the captain.

The 1031 cover killed every headcanon.
Whoever denies that Rayleigh, Ben, Zoro, King, Katakuri, Marco, Killer, Bepo, Sabo and Shiryu are the strongest right after their captains/bosses is denying blatant canon evidence, at this point.

Until Luffy acknowledge that Zoro is his 1st mate or Vice Captain, the SH crew does not have one. Zoro fans can try all they want to try to convey this notion but Zoro is nothing more than a strong fighter on this crew.

First Mate /=/ First to join.

First Mate = Second in Commmand = Vice Captain

Pretty much all the same thing. It doesnt mean first to join....its just the second in charge after the captain. SHs dont have that officially.

4.) How tf does that correlate with being FM. Toko has better interactions with Sanji anyways.
