Of course not. Point is that he will land a hit on Shanks.
Or that's what is expected from a guy who supposedly surpassed High Tiers.
According to some power scalers, Kidd is a top tier and the least we can expect from a top tier is to do something to Shanks.

The issue isn't his durability. I think everyone agrees that Shanks doesn't have Kaido/BM Durability but Oda has to make it look realistic cause nobody is buying that a giant bull made out of metal can reach Shanks before he dodges it or cuts boxes/puches it into pieces

Doesn’t matter how you spin it, Kid is one of only 4 characters in the series credited with defeating a yonko. The other 3 are Law, Teach, and Luffy; the latter two ultimately became yonko.

If Kid was as trash as people think, Oda could have easily given this privilege to Law alone, having Kid die against BM. Or he could have just had Zoro, Marco, or Yamato be Law’s tag team.

Kid gets stronger after every L he takes. He lost his arm to Beckman, then came back to defeat Snack. He lost to Kaido, only to 2v1 BM in wano. If Kid survived his encounter with the RHP on Elbaf, he’s more than likely coming back as an ACoC user. As Luffy did after his second defeat to Kaido.

I think there’s a pretty high chance we could get Shanks vs Kid and Loki before Shanks’s 1v1 with Teach. Given how much Oda favors Shanks, I doubt he’s getting defeated in a fair fight. Rather it will be something like Garp vs BBP where the odds are massively stacked against him
