Speculations Will Teach be capable of countering Shanks's haki?

#1
Looking at the Wi Fi haki feat in the anime, I honestly find it hard to believe that Teach is capable of fighting Shanks.

It seems as if Shanks's CoC was capable of not only paralyzing GB, but also seemingly deactivating his powers.

How will Teach, a guy whose fighting style revolves around DFs, possibly be able to counteract this ability? I have two theories.

1. Teach beats Shanks with help from Kid
This is simple, both have grudges against Shanks. Shanks likely destroyed Kid's entire crew. If Kid's still alive, teaming up with Teach to take down shanks is the most likely move for him. Having Shanks fall 2v1 also respects Shanks's character as it allows him to retain his hype even in defeat.

2. Teach getting a massive boost in mobility, likely via a 3rd DF

As we can see from the wifi haki scene, the haki Shanks is using isn't just a random blast, its a targeted beam.

This means that if you can dodge the beam, then you won't get paralyzed by his haki.

This is where I see Teach's 3rd DF coming into play. I think Teach will get a DF that greatly increases his speed, allowing him to cover for his shit mobility. I think the Nikyu Nikyu no mi would be a good 3rd DF, but there could be others as well that serve this purpose. The pika pika no mi, or a possible Yokai zoan with teleportation powers could also do the job.

With a speed DF, Teach would be able to dodge Shanks's paralyzing haki blasts and engage him in combat. However due to the fact that Shanks is an expert in future sight, Teach will still likely need assistance from Kid to take down Shanks.

Ultimately, it doesn't make much sense for Teach to currently be able to fight Shanks 1v1 and win. His powers are derived from DFs and he has shown absolutely zero signs of advanced haki. All of which means that he would get utterly stomped by Shanks's immense haki prowess. This is despite the fact that Teach is still a very powerful character and could probably stomp other top tiers such as Big Mom and the Admirals. Simply put, Shanks is on another level.

Due to this, both outside assistance and a third DF will likely be necessary in order for Teach to defeat Shanks.

This won't really change things for Luffy because unlike Shanks, Luffy doesn't have the Wifi haki that can instantly paralyze admiral+ tier fighters and possibly even deactivate their DFs. Hence, Teach will remain an insurmountable foe for him.

However once Luffy does awaken this power, the odds will be greatly evened

Teach, Kid and Greenbull jump Shanks. The rat is doomed
I think Garling is also a good option

If Teach does end up joining the world government, perhaps he will ally with the holy knights

Gura Gura No Mi is almost an Alternative to AdCoC if you look close enough.

Gura Gura can Keep up with Advanced Conqueror Coating.
In terms of AP, it is comparable

But could the Gura actually counteract the paralyzing effects of fully mastered conqueror's haki? I don't see how it would when all the fruit does is create shockwaves.

I think the fruit Blackbeard is deciding to obtain probably are supposed mirror advanced haki so yes. Plus just because he doesn’t have advanced forms of haki doesn’t mean his haki is in anyway weak

Blackbeard’s last fruit is most likely a fruit that either gives him an ability that mirrors future observation or one that counters it.
With his first 2 fruit likely giving him abilities that mirror advanced haki abilities his last one should too

  1. Darkness fruit = advanced conquerors
    • Both being able to cancel out devil fruit
  2. Quake fruit = penetration armament
    • Both bypassing durability
  3. 3rd fruit = future observation
    • Both letting the user see into the future

Honestly his last fruit could be a mythical zoan that has some time related abilities but idk any that would fit
Tho my main guesses would probably be
  1. Toki’s time fruit probably allows the user to see into the future if even a bit
  2. Weirdly enough an awakening version of foxy’s slow fruit as a counter to it instead
  3. A made up future future fruit
  4. Some mythical zoan time creature idk

I think it depends on the Yami Yami No Mi,'s capabilities. Blackbeard once told Ace in chapter 441 that his darkness power could absorb anything including fire, lightning and punches which is a strange thing to note but considering we saw how Garp fights using Haki powered fists and was using CoC to launch attacks with.

Then it's possible that the Darkness fruit can absorb Haki itself! Which sounds absurd but Teach is not an idiot he knows about Haki and that all Yonko very likely had CoC. Teach admitted that he would have given up if he hadn't found the Yami Yami fruit. He certainly believed that this fruit would be the only way to accomplish his dream.

So long story the Yami Yami No can absorb Haki itself which maybe why Oda and Teach himself have been rarely showing its capabilities because it would live up to its claim of being the strongest devil fruit.

If the yami can absorb haki then honestly Oda is writing himself into another asspull power up for Luffy

I have a theory.

Blackbeard has three minds.
One is cooking new devious plans 24/7
One is training haki hax to the limits 24/7
One is training/thinking about DF hax to the limits 24/7

We haven't seen Hakiman Teach yet.

I don't think it requires a "counter". Moreover I don't think that a DF can act as a counter to Haki, as it's the other way around. Teach will simply get accustomed to it through his will power and own Haki, which should be pretty strong despite the fact he focused on leveling up with DFs.
