Worlds Strongest Swordsman was always a superior title to Yonko.

1 is literally a title of strength, "World STRONGEST". The other is a title were sure you do need to be strong (not the strongest in anything bare in mind) but also need to have a big enough crew, either in numbers or strength (or both), have territories and influence in them regions.

Clear cut example is the weak gag character Buggy becoming one, because of his actions in "recruiting" (politics at work) Mihawk & Crocodile. No Strength was ever mentioned in Brannew's reason of him becoming a yonko.

Lastly, none of the Yonko (previous or current) would've ever become a yonko with strength alone (even Whitebeard & Kaido with their World's Strongest titles). Therefore WS > Yonko

The previous Yonkos had years to build up their bounties and become huge threats to the world. Nobody can become a Yonko on their own. It requires at least strength, a powerful crew, and territory.

While Mihawk bounty is just based on his strength alone. He hasn't had an active bounty for years. The only reason Mihawk even received a bounty was because he was warlord and program was canceled so they had to give him a bounty.

It's crazy that the marines and world government considers Mihawk to be that big of a threat by him just existing.

I feel like the titles infer different things, atleast not the exact same things. World's Strongest Swordsman is exactly that, the strongest Swordsman, Emperor title involves having resources, being perceived as formidable whether due to the recognition of your subordinates or your own strength and being capable of maintaining some sort of balance.

Whitebeard and Kaido have World's Strongest titles too so it seems weird to say WSS>Emperor when Emperor entails other significant achievements and doesn't limit the Emperor. If the point is that an Emperor can be weaker than Mihawk, that's obvious, they can be weaker than each other. There's no grand point being made that changes things.

Prestigious? Sounds quite subjective and I'm not sure.

WSM & WSC being the Strongest in their respective areas while also being the Greatest Pirates does not imply in any way that all the Greatest Pirates are also "the Strongest".
The term "Yonko" being a term of influence & not a measure of strength has been proven using two examples in the manga already - Teach & Buggy.

Teach only became a Yonko after beating Marco & conquering territories, meaning strength alone is not enough.

Buggy became a Yonko because he had two powerful men, one of whom is worth more than Buggy himself, under him.

Individual strength of course helps, but without a crew and territories, even if one was the strongest of all time in OP one wouldn't be an Emperor. And that is what the translator said as well.

Individual power not only helps, it is part of the rule. Not even Buggy is excluded since the marines literally said that rumors says he is as strong as Shanks so he is very dangerous. They also said he had enough power to make Crocodile and Mihawk his subordinates. We know the truth, but to the WG they really believe Buggy is that strong.
