Character Discussion Yamato has too much going for her to not be a SH

Anyone complaining about her “lack of role” and Oden impersonation should consider how she went from selfishly demanding Luffy take her to being willing to hold back her ambitions to help Momo, which shows character progression. And also still showed desire enthusiasm to join despite Momo’s failure.

Unless people want to admit that Momo will kill Yamato’s dreams to sail because he can’t even handle an Admiral, then I think I’m reasonable to presume that she will still sail with Luffy like she wanted.

Yamato didn’t have a dream. She wanted to sail with Luffy because of her obsession with Oden, nothing for her own wants. Defending Wano was the one choice she made for herself.

She’s not sailing with Luffy, Yamato wants to stay in Wano and protect it. Oden was the one who sailed with the pirate king and this was the one time Yamato decided to do something that Oden didn’t

Oda changed his decision after one month break. She was going to be an SH imo.

Yamato can not join the crew right now because she is stronger than Zoro, but once Zoro is yonko level and able to beat an admiral like Luffy is now, she will join, to be the fourth place under Luffy Zoro Sanji

As annoying as Yamato can be I have to admit she makes more sense as a crewmember than Jinbei ever has.

The only thing I can think of is that she was too strong. She is needed to protect Wano and she might mess up the power dynamic of the crew.

Jinbe actually has a role to fill, represents fishmen as the race which best symbolizes discrimination against non humans and his actions through Marineford and how he supported Luffy after Ace's death made him one of his closest acquaintances. Also, Jinbe's foundations as a character were so deep that he was already mentioned by name, not even vague allusion, in Arlong Park.

Jinbe was since day one conceived as a future Straw Hat by Oda, as also proven by his early drafts of the crew. Yamato is only a character made up during the middle of Wano. Saying Yamato makes more sense as a crewmember than Jinbe is nuts.

The straw hats have navigated the knock up stream, fishman island, evading capture by Garp, and multiple new world situations. They don't need a helmsman and they never have. It's a useless position.

Jinbei doesn't belong with the straw hats because he's a new world veteran. He's not there to grow or achieve his dreams, he's a stagnant character whose only real place in the story is muscle. The straw hats need fresh people with fresh dreams, not some fat washed up fish who has already been on 3 legendary pirate crews. Rayleigh is also a close ally and saved/trained Luffy but he wouldn't belong on the crew either. His personality also doesn't match the straw hats goofy dynamic and looks severely out of place when Oda tries it.

Besides those points the fishmen suff already was talked about enough (arlong/sabbody archipegelo /fishmen island)

Power dynamics are irrelevant, and certainly don’t matter more than the Straw Hats getting threatened by Saturn, which could have used more help to help fend Saturn off.

I understand Yamato needs more character development, namely agency, before being fit to move on from Wano, and isn’t just there because of
Momo’s failure with the treebranch admiral.
