What Oda meant if someone has a solo story like Ryuma in the story, Zolo doesn't have solo stories without Luffy. Ryuma has his own Manga chapter, Zolo doesn't have that.
If Zolo was deuteragonist, Oda would at least make him vice-captain like Rayleigh, and make Sanji and others obey Zolo's command same as Luffy's. Luffy's crew as as whole can be deuteragonist at best, Zolo doesn't get more plot relevance than other SH pirates.
