My main issue with Zoro's parents being random nobodies is that Oda could've tossed in a throwaway line about his parents or any family in his initial flashback, or in his flashback to his teachings with Koshiro later in Alabasta. But he was already training at the dojo when his flashback started in the manga, with no mention of any family, similar to Luffy and Sanji's initial flashbacks (Chapter 1 with Luffy at Makino's bar hanging with Shanks, and Sanji being an apprentice chef on the ship that Zeff attacked).
There's also the fact that he was one of the few characters introduced early on with a surname, when that was pretty rare. Only like 5 or 6 characters had revealed surnames in the first 100 chapters.

Zoro is the son of Shimotsuki Ushimaru (he is the spitting image of him). Ushimaru is either the cousin or brother of Shimotsuki Kouzaboro (the guy who created Wado Ichimonji/Enma). Kouzaboro left Wano illegally 50 years ago, and established his dojo in East Blue. Denjiro's was the son of Kouzaboro, HOWEVER, he was left alone in Wano, and because he was the son of a person who committed a crime of leaving illegally, he changed his name from Shimotsuki Koshiro, son of Kouzaboro, into Denjiro so people wouldn't taunt him.
Denjiro was raised and was taught the way of swords by Zoro's father (Ushimaru), who was a master swordsman, and later joined Oden as a scabbard and was learning from oden as well. But overall, he owes Zoro's father a great debt of raising him and teaching him. Eventually, when Wano was attacked 20 years ago, Zoro was still at the age of 1 or 2

And he told him about the shimotsuki village in East Blue since he knew his brother plan (Kouzaboro) who is the father of Denjiro/Koshiro. Koshiro who was left by his father, abandoned, hesitated to go for that place cause any kid would when they grow as orphan when their parents leave them behind. However, his great debt to Ushimaru and his care for Zoro made him overcome the hatred of going to his father village.

Inu and neku left with oden so not everyone stayed in wano.
Maybe his dad left a vivre card for denjiro uf he ever sailed and went to the east blue in the meantime.
Then he went back to wano to fight kaido. Not everywhere in wano fell at once. Ushimaru who could be zoros dads place held on for a while and he could have given him zoro to keep safe before he died.
