It's a fact that Zoro hasn't used his upper tier Santoryu techniques (Kokujo Ou Tatsumaki, (Upgraded) Gyuki Muzume, 1080 Pound Cannon, Nigori-Zake, Rokudo no Tsuji, Ichidai Sanzen Daisen Sekai) or hardening.

You can speculate on why Zoro is holding back so massively against a Yonkou, but you can't argue that Zoro is secretly going all out despite him holding back on his strongest moves because it contradicts your head canon.

My guess is that Oda intends to have Zoro gradually ramp up the strength of the techniques he's using vs Kaido, and we'll soon see him using stronger techniques. He may also be saving hardening for particularly impactful strikes by Zoro.

Alternatively, the rooftop battle is destined for failure and Kaido is holding Zoro's all out in reserve for later.

I was speculating on the 5 supernova, never been an argument only about Zoro, if the captain is using the top class techniques, the Vice Captain or the rivals won't be doing better than him.
And that's why I think that, instead, that all of them will show a next level attack, for Luffy maybe a Gear 5th, for Law i just don't know, for Zoro the same, cause Oda hide hike for 10 years and didn't give him any particular fighting moment, Zoro's strength is a matter of faith at the moment

Law having something better than Gamma Knife will be determined by his facial expression after he saw the effects of his attack on Kaido.
If he is shocked and terrified Gamma knife did basically nothing,then Gamma knife is still probably amongst his ultimates.
If Law was calm and composed after seeing Kaido shrugging off that,then he sure as hell has some more powerful attacks in his arsenal currently(Similar to Mihawk not be shocked Jozu tanked his super flying slash aimed at Wsm).

Anyways I think each of those 5 are slowly leveling up their attacks as the fight goes on and they will be using their ultimates at around the same time thus being portrayed somewhat close in strength.

After that,1 vs 1 against a severely weakened Kaido can start and we will start seeing differences in levels amongst the 5 Sn.

Then he used a pre time skip attack that sets people on fire WITHOUT hardening again
