The only issue I have with this theory is whether Oda has the balls to let the antagonist killed by a MC. Everything else is highly possible what Zoro could do to Kaido at this point.

Luffy sees the future of Zoro beheading Kaido but stops him, saying "Kaido is already defeated. Show some mercy and let him run away".

Kaido's Flames are Potent enough that the Smoke made from it can lift an entire Island.
Luffy Tanking it means he can tank Island busting attacks, which is dumb as fuck

Kaido's AP = vastly overrated
Kaido is a nobrain fighter that can't dodge or block
Hence why Kaido made his durability so high

Kaido will get hit 10 times for every hit he strikes back
