So how about that badass Yamato animation in the updated One Piece opening?

Seems to me that Toei’s already starting to push her.
Here's the GIF:

Would have flown Momo away when they saw the island was floating.
Oda may have been saving the reveal of her Zoan for her fight with Kaido.

He had Jack refuse to use his Hybrid even as the Dukes nearly killed him.

Hahahahaha, holy shit, I kinda remember that too!! People wanted him so badly even after Luffy basically drew Franky while describing the perfect shipwright...can you imagine how much different this series would have been with Paulie blasting lasers and dancing in a Speedo?? :gokulaugh:
I can't imagine Pauly trying to even up the fight against Senor nor kiss Kyuin...

All Yamato has done is being Ace's best friend for the moment XdxD
Better wait to his/her resolution xD
That's a much better case to join the crew than anyone but Law TBH.

Boy, if y’all think Yamato caught the smoke after her manga introduction...that opening leads me to believe she’ll be fuckin’ FIRE in the anime :steef::lumazed::arnoling:
I feel the hype already.

If it weren't for Jinbe, i would agree with you tbh
Even last chapter...half of her dialogue was I am Oden.
What you doing oda, let her be a good character..:lawsigh:
That was all of her dialogue in the chapter.

But it's, kind of fine? This wasn't a cringe or cheap humour moment like with Momonosuke. This was Yamato affirming that she's no longer a prisoner and that she has/will now become Oden:

Yamato was inspired by Oden's life:

So inspired, that she made his journal her Bible:

She seeks to become Oden:

After Luffy freed her, she declared that today is the day that she becomes Oden:

I think it's supposed to contrast Kaido saying that Luffy couldn't become Joy Boy:

Becoming Oden has certain connotations for Yamato:
  • The freedom to explore the open sea:

  • To fulfil his unfinished will:
    • To open Wano's borders:
    • To vanquish Kaido:

  • An unyielding and uncompromising resolve:
  • Protecting Momonosuke (?):

  • Preparing Wano for Joy Boy's return (?)
  • Embarking on her own grand adventure:

It's consistent with what we know of her character, and is kind of thematic.

Because Luffy is more free than her, Yamato tells him that perhaps he's more Oden than her:

For Yamato, Kozuki Oden isn't just — or perhaps not at all — a person, he's an ideal.

It may be the case that Yamato inheriting Oden's will was (part of) what Oden referred to when he said his soul would live on:

Another ten chapters since we saw Carrot, and just like last time, it seems very deliberate that she's being left out. There’s a point Oda's planning to make, and it has everything to do with Pedro's will.

There are three main points Pedro made:

1. Everyone has their moment to shine
2. Someday the importance of the Straw Hats and their connection to the dawn will be clear
3. Keep moving onward

Carrot needs to understand all of that before her arc can reach a satisfactory conclusion.

First, she has not had her time to shine. If, for example, that fleet battle was her time, there would be no reason to push her so hard now. She could have beaten Peros with Sulong, he admitted that, and that would have gotten the revenge she wanted and perhaps satisfied her. But instead she failed, and Peros twisted the knife by saying to just run home to Zou. She needs her moment now, not in the past. Revenge was not the answer Oda had in mind, or else she would have gotten it.

Second, she knows there's a reason Pedro gave up his life beyond just saving them in WCI. She knows what Pedro said of the dawn, the centuries-long wait and the Straw Hats being vital to that. But she has yet to understand the true meaning of his words and actions. She's still thinking in very personal terms, that Pedro died and the enemy pirates are to blame, that the Straw Hats are simply her friends she wants to help and that she wants to have an adventure. What Pedro wanted her to have was a clear goal, a reason to sail and help her friends to bring that dawn he longed for.

Which comes to the final point, the one Carrot has thought back on twice, before and after the fight with Peros. She has not yet moved forward. She's been fixated on Pedro's death and going after anyone she can lash out at, just like when she charged at Katakuri. Back then, Luffy broke through to her in her darkest moment. He gave her a reason to move forward, to protect the ship while he took the burden of fighting Katakuri. Jinbe followed that up with a reminder that Pedro did what he had to do with no regrets, and they needed to do the same. Carrot had the maturity to absolve Sanji when he was blaming himself. Deep down, she knows that Pedro's death is bigger than any one person.

Soon, she's going to put that all together and truly have her moment, move forward and make it clear whether her future is with the Straw Hats or not. And I'm still betting that it is.
