I live with an Aunt for most of my life and she still freaks out about me being out at night and gives me speeches about why it's dangerous. Some people can't fully accept the fact that you're a grown ass man and they don't have the power over you like they used to when you were a teen. Bottom line is that your parents worrying too much is hindering what you want to do in life.

There are these kind of parents/parental figures that are just like this.
Overly worrying, scared of everything, when you are out at night or just travelling on your own(!!) they'll give you lectures and say "why are you doing this to me? You are a bad person for scaring ME. I'll be sooo upset if anything happens to you. You are MY child. Why are you doing this to ME ME ME I I I I "

They only see themselves and cannot accept you for the person that you are. They want you to rot at home, in 'sAFeTy' , rather than living your own life and making good experiences. According to them, the world is evil and you will most definitely be robbed, kidnapped, raped or killed by a terrorist.

They want an eternal child and can't accept that you're a grownup.

My advice for dealing with such individuals: do what you want anyway.
They need to get off that 'drug' that protecting you really is to them.
Your relationship with them might normalize over the years, especially when you move to another city and don't see them all the time.

It gives them the opportunity to get used to it.

If they still cant accept you as a fully grown adult then just f*** them.

Staying home all the time is not healthy for you.

When i was younger my grandma monitored me pile woods for winter heating. It is a really tough job to do in fall but nonetheless i managed and i pilled them all like a great wall of China they looked. My grandma said i did a bad job and that i should re do it
