Couldn't agree more when a shitty character ranks 8th in the popularity poll.. If the One Piece community hanged in the balance to save the human race from aliens, they had eradicate everyone in a heartbeat..

Yet, each Strawhats are extremely well crafted why would Oda lower his own standards and have a plain character join the crew?? Cute Furry Happy Fan service isn't an argument for a bad character to get on Sunny..

Can we get some more competent Carrot fans in here? Like where did @Shift and @Davidsuxx go? I feel like it's barely even worth reading posts from the creators of such brilliant arguments as "Yamato's fighting style is too similar to Nami's", "Yamato can't join the crew because her hair color looks like a character from Demon Slayer", "Carrot will fight Kaido", and "Yamato can't join the crew because her background color isn't lime green, navy blue, or dark orange and Oda can't change her color" (this was later retconned into "color theory doesn't matter" after Oda did, in fact, change her color to dark orange).

My thoughts are largely the same as they have been: I'm waiting to to see what, if anything, Carrot is going to do to follow Pedro's will. If she sits out the rest of this battle, I won't argue anymore. But as perfect as Yamato seemingly is, not even flat out declaring he will join Luffy is enough to make me drop Carrot over him, not while there's still questions I want answered. And if they remain unanswered, I guess that's the fate I chose.

Give yourself a little more credit than that, Jerami - you’ve worked so hard to sully the reputation of a fictional character who has apparently crossed you in a deeply personal way, this important crusade is really making a difference in the canon and that must feel very satisfying for you!!

This is literally the only thing y’all still have left, and when Luffy ends up calling her Yamato in two chapters since every other argument you brilliant scholars have made gets summarily dismantled in the canon shortly thereafter, it’ll be interesting to watch round 93648628 of the neverending scramble to deflect

Just in case people forgot.

This is what Oda specifically said about the nakama nickname issue on Vol 96 SBS.

Fan: “Hello! I have a question! There are tons of people Luffy gives nicknames, but he doesn’t use nicknames for his crew members, why is that?”

Oda: “Well, Luffy is the kind of guy who doesn't want to remember any names because he doesn't care, so he makes up a name based on the respective person's look. But when someone joins his crew, he makes sure to remember their name properly,"

This is why the “Yamao” argument doesn’t work. Oda was only referring to people who have already joined the SHs. Yamato is not currently a straw hat so this doesn’t apply to her.

People really need to stop taking Oda’s words out of context to suit their bullshit narrative.
