It is not about Carrot winning or losing is about being able to participate in the current arc at hand that is not off screen. it Is also about someone else among the strawhats coming to help or aid her in the situation to motivate her chances even more to help the straw hats further on their journey. How do the strawhats personally help her from her past trauma if is not indirectly about her as a character? It doesn't help her to move forward. It just puts her back into a supportive of role and pushing her into the background.
