Sometimes you're doing so good, the other times you're just so shit. How? I hate when I have neg-diff my friends.
Firstly, there is no "admiral level". There are only fodder, low, mid, high, top/summit, and god(Ryuma and Prime Zoro only) tiers.
King is low or mid top-tier by feats so far. He's giving a heavy fight to anyone in the top tier range including admirals and emperors.
Shiryu was a top-tier pre-ts or at the very least right there, and now he's even more powerful than pre-ts. Pre-ts, he was more dangerous than magellan who literally lol-diffed Yami Blackbeard and crew. A Blackbeard who Shanks and Whitebeard knew as powerful, and Shiryu was leagues above him. Magellan even let him out to go lol-diff Blackbeard and his crew.
There is no "YC1" scaling, that's like saying Mihawk is too stronk for "Warlord".
He's more than decently above Marco, he destroyed Marco primarily without even getting serious. Marco, the man, who even Big Mom wanked for his calibre. While Marco did have 1 hype moment against King, it amounted to nothing but King's annoyance. Like someone said, if a human had the tori-tori no mi, they could stall 2 bears at once until their stamina ran out, doesn't mean the human is stronger. That's what happened with Marco. And the best part is, Queen barely acknowledged Marco in the fight before it completely went to King and Marco 1v1, which means King basically soloed Marco for the entirety of Marco's presence there except for 1006 and 1007.
Also, King literally said this chapter(1032) he's beyond even Kaido in Kaido's best stats. And King's offense against Zori looks better than Kaido's offense against Zori. Do the math.
I'm not saying King>Kaido btw, I'm just saying they're comparable. I guess we know why Kaido only brought King to MF, and why Kaido was comfortable fighting the Red Hairs with only King. Meaning King probably fought Beckman, the man who is also comparable to his captain.

He showed nothing beyond the YC1 lvl. Infact we literally have a direct on panel comparison with a fellow YC1(Marco) In terms of feats
- Flight? Marco has it
- Physical strength? Marco shocked and overwhelmed him on panel in a 1 vs 2, could also physically clash with Big Mom equally.
- Speed? Marco was blitzing him on panel even with Queen alongside, could intercept Kizaru's lightspeed attacks
- Defensive hax? Marco can regenerate from any damage
In terms of portrayal, Oda couldn't even make King fight a fresh Marco solo, literally had to make him tag team with Queen to wear down his fellow YC1(Marco) before whatever that happened off-panel while having an hax(defense) that needs some knowledge to circumvent

I totally agree with you on Marco's speed; his speed is low-key one of the most overlooked aspects about Marco. However, let's not ignore that King fought Hybrid Marco for around 30 minutes in base and wasn't getting outclassed. Marco never blitzed King but he does deserve credit for hitting him back immediately after getting hit. It was also very impressive that he was kept King and Queen at bay by effectively sperating them with back back to back attacks—which is largly thanks to his regeneration, and not his speed.
I actually give Marco the edge when it comes to defense. His defese doesn't depend on specific parts of his body, unlike King. That, I think, makes him or even Katakuri more effective defensively than him. But, does that help them fight King better? Not really. Marco has his own weaknesses too. People with decent enough Haki can still hurt him despite regeneration.
Oda did not make King fight a fresh Marco because he's intended to be Zoro's opponent, not because King can't fight Marco. Oda legit made Base King fight on par with Hybrid Marco and defeat him. More stamina ain't making Marco stronger; the best it would've done is to prolong his eventual defeat.
