i'm hoping Oda would redeem Kaidou in the next chapter, maybe Oden would issue 1v1 challenge to Kaidou for the freedom of his scabbards, and even with Enma and Ame no Habakiri equipped, Kaidou actually brutally stomps Oden helplessly in a frontal battle, in front of their armies, and kill him, then proceeds to boil him, bringing true despair to Wano.
just like Oda redeem Kaidou one chapter after Luffy's Gear 3rd punched Kaidou to the ground.
But meh, i'm just much much less interested of any hype in powerlevel anymore.
You have the current Kaido who beats Kidd luffy fairly, fought BM fairly.
And then you have the past Kaido who won via distraction
The only constant things :
Dragon kaido is wasted whether in the past or now
Kaido still gets drunk
Kaido is cautious and doesn't engage in wars without making sure he has enough manpower
to be honest if Luffy get the same haki that can harm Kaido , the Dragon form will be an disadvantage for Kaido imagine Luffy uses Elephant gattling like he used in their first round but this time with with inner destruction haki so Kaido will scream in pain to no end. i think covering his Dragon form in haki will consumes too much haki .
i bet his human form is the strongest in one vs one . his Dragon form is effective against subordinates but if he uses that he will not only annihilate the alliance but his men inf first place they are all there and drunk . it is not like they all have haki and to make it worse they are all drunk
by the way in the anime didn't use a simple attack against Luffy he used all haki around his body to coat his club with .
and that might the inner destruction haki used against Luffy .
Blast breath?
But yeah I agree, he should use this form in a war, not against 10 people, he’ll end up wounding/killing more of his own than the opponents worororo
Also for me this chapter and the previous one showed that shinobu isn't the traitor. She has never been on my list and I definitely put her at a 100% loyalty to the cause.
The most reasonable thing we can do is just not to put much thought in all of this. Oda could literally come up with any scenario just to push on the story telling, the way Oden was prevented by the barrier from killing Orochi and the way Momonosuke was impersonated shows that Oda's not analyzing every single part of the duel like we do here after all ( i.e. did A react / tank / was in prime vs B ). you can give your personal analysis on that but to Oda, circumstances and context play a much bigger role than we think.
Nah mate. If it was the real momonosuke that somehow wandered onto the battlefield and then one of Kaidou’s men took advantage of it coz Kaidou was momentarily at a disadvantage then fair enuff but the fact that the Mane Mane fruit was conveniently used to transform into Momonosuke as soon as Kaidou was a disadvantage even with Orochi & his men nowhere in sight must mean that it was planned by the beast Pirates imo.
exactly, there is also Oden saying to Kaido "you're too careful / taking preventive steps"... and even that narration box emphasizing "Oden's power was far exceeding what the enemy (=Kaido) had imagined"

One thing I noticed about this chapter is that the fight ENDED FAST. And it doesn't mean it's an easy clash. As we all saw, Oden wounded Kaido a heavy wound.
But this is something I also noticed with another TOP TIER fight in Marineford (Whitebeard vs Akainu). The exchange truly ends really fast. Where every blow is as lethal as it gets.
This is important because I used to think Luffy has a durability problem when he faced Kaido.
But that's NOT TRUE considering Oden got the same amount of Damage from "Tunder Bagua" as Luffy.
Which makes me believe that when Oda announces fights of Top Tiers lasting "3 days, 5 days, 10 days" They usually do not go FULL POWER from the start.
They may start the battle with a King's haki clash that is so big as a way to say "Hi, long time no see"
but they usually bring down the tone, and they preserve their energy and only go all out and reveal their biggest moves in the very end.
Which is why, when it comes to an ALL OUT WAR:
WB vs Akainu (Lasted few minutes)
Kaido vs Oden (Lasted few minutes)
Because in those fights, it was not a mere confrontation. It was an all out war, and they bring their biggest moves from the start. Every blow is as LETHAL as it gets.
What I'm trying to say is that... Luffy now appears in a MORE respectable way, because what he suffered from Thunder bagua is now expected since it's also the same move that took down Oden.
