I just read your blog. Its a lot of stuff, but the only things you make clearly that you reinforce that matter the most are these 7:
Let's conclude
They are seven rules that a character must ABSOLUTELY fulfill just to be considered a worthy candidate for a recruitment at the present state of the story. A character must:
- Be alive
- Be relevant to the story
- Be unique and have a unique ability
- Be free from faction duty or independent
- Be a friend or a false adversary
- Looking and acting toward adventure
- Have a moral Pillar
Also, your benchmarks aren't even accurate as some of the straw hats that joined already broke some of these rules in the first place anyway.
Like for example rule 4, where it states one must be free from faction duty or independent. Well Nami wasn't faction free and independent as she was still held down by Arlong, why did she still join the crew?

The only surprise factor Oda had done was with Robin, and even back then Robin was shown being very mysterious, that she saved Luffy. She was also the one who made comment first about “D”, which finally made people think what is with the D? Robin also didn’t disappear most of the story during Alabasta arc.
Another thing worth to notice was that Robin was a villain before joining. That’s why Oda compensated her back story after she joined. The rest of Straw Hats back story was revealed prior joining. Carrot has never been a villain, and there is no point for Oda to compensate her back story.
And again I still don’t understand the logic that Oda needed to give so much for Yamato just to be a red herring for Carrot. The logic still applies that Oda could have given the Yamato’s spotlight to Carrot instead of pushing Carrot out of the story. There is no need for “surprise factor”. In One Piece, things that always go around surprise factor always about death. Ace’s death, Sabo turned out to be alive, Pell & Pound survived, etc.
Ask this question to yourself: why Oda needs to create Yamato, gives Yamato so much spotlight instead of giving those to Carrot? And if you’re looking for answer, answer it with what has been presented in the manga. Not head canons, nor “surprise factor” assumptions.

And how do you know that someone is special? You know someone is special when oda gives that character a lot of screentime and importance in the story. Can you tell me what carrot has done in wano so far worth mentioning? Nothing!!!! There are already too many characters in wano, so don't expect her to get anymore highlights in the story because even some of the strawhats may not get that. Carrot has been in the story for many years and yet she isn't an important character other than a cute bunny. It was fine if it was in east blue saga. But right now, one piece is in it's final showdown and the moments are very serious. Cuteness isn't good enough at this point.

I forgot to add another point that Oda compensated Robin’s back story with Enies Lobby because it was back then when Oda still had more than enough time.
And this point is correct, if Carrot appeared during East Blue or Grand Line at least, she would still have the chance. But it’s already Wano. Many fans have complained that Yamato is added to late to join, imagine if we’re getting 1-2 arcs to focus on Carrot’s backstory only. Even during Marineford arc/post timeskip Oda has stated that it was already 60-70% done IIRC.
Again, if Oda really intended Carrot to join, Oda could’ve just make Wano is Carrot’s arc that she’s the center of this arc, that she has the proper background to join. But the facts from the manga show the exact opposite. Even Raizo & Fukurokuju have better spotlight than Carrot.

Even the ones who pretty much said that Yamato & Carrot both suck, can see where the story is going
Because Robin was important to the story of the Alabasta arc. So even if she was just a secondary character, she was logicaly still there. nothing out of the ordinary.
Not Usopp's one (the backstory of Usopp only appears at the end of the arc, after Usopp is recruted by Luffy).
Not Nami's one (it happens during Arlong Park
And not Sanji's one (the second half) it happens during Totland.
Robin was not a villain, Robin was a false antagonist. This is a very important distinction to make as Robin was never depicted too evil, there was always a mysterious, even maybe helpfull side to her characterization. Her backstory on Alabasta has three role : to setup her dream, to setup her character arc (this is the first time that you can actually see Robin give up on life), and to make the reader understand what happened between her and Luffy. But this was not made to compensate anything.
Oda is giving this much to Yamato only because of the simple fact that Yamato is an important character in Onigashima and that her cahracter arc relates in everyway to the theme of Wano.
Yamato is only a redhearing in the sence that Oda is accentuating her will to sail with Luffy.. But it the great scheme of her cahracter arc.. everything that oda gives to Yamato is logical. It's going in synch with her character arc. (I don't know if that very clear.. it's a bit technical)
Oh ! and.. Yeah..
There is ALWAYS the need for a surprise factor in One Piece. It's litterally how this story is constructed.. with tons of surprises put one after the other.. with ones much surprising than others.
Yamato as I have done the hypothesis before, was probably either a very late addition to Wano (late as 2018 late) because of the lack of setup for that character (Oda at this point is too good with setups to forget those) ..or a very EARLY character imagined to be fighting aongside Momo .. because of the lack of setup for that character.. (Oda at that point was probably not that good with setup, and might have constructed the story while forgetting to setup Yamato correctly..). In either cases.. yamato felt a bit forced because of that lack of setup.
Now. if you ask me why was Yamato invented.. it's another story.. and it depend on which hypothesis you choose from the two above:
- If Yamato is a late character she was most likely invented to add depth to the lore of Kaido and the theme of parenting during the last part of the arc where this theme is not that much present..
- If Yamato is an early character, she was most likely created to help Momo fullfil his destiny. And to help the readers introduce a lot of lore about Joy Boy/the dawn/Luffy etc..
There is a lot of possibility of "what if" but right now .. at the present states of the story .. yamato acts as a vector of protection for Momo and the people of Wano, she was also a vector of setup for Luffy's rise to the top (999/1000).
Also.. You are not all blinded, some of you are less blinded than others by the Yamato hype.. but yea.. there is no other qualificatifs..
But notes that being "blinded" by the story is not such a bad thing, it shows that the story works ! The problems start with toxicity and forum wars.

Don't worry about me, I have a very healthy relationship with One Piece.. Such a twist is nothing.

Carrot is now your life. There is nothing left except Carrot in your life! What will you do when Oda takes away Carrot (your life)?
Then you basically mean that Carrot is irrelevant to Wano’s story, and hoping that Carrot will join post Wano. Was there any Straw Hat who was irrelevant prior joining? Because no Straw Hats have been irrelevant prior joining in the respective arc, if you think Carrot will join after Wano ends. And it’s a fact.
But still the facts are still there that Usopp is the central character before he joined. And even if you talk about Nami & Sanji, again, Nami & Sanji were the central character of the specific arc prior joining.
Robin was still considered a villain since she joined the villains organizations. She was a villain, but she had her own agenda. Even with 8 years working with Crocodile, she didn’t fully trust Crocodile and only used him to find her last option of poneglyph in Alabasta. And if you say there is nothing to compensate, Oda still did make the Enies Lobby arc to fulfill the exact same pattern of each Straw Hat: having terrible past
And again Oda could’ve given every single bit of those to Carrot if he really intended Carrot to join, but unfortunately he didn’t. Oda could’ve just simply made Carrot (for example) Kaido’s adopted daughter who ran away to Zou that Jack infiltrated Zou to take her back. But the fact that Oda didn’t do that, means that Oda never intended for Carrot to join.

And these are your hypothesis of “was probably” which means it has nothing to do with the story Oda has presented to the fans. Again as I said, you need to answer with the facts from manga, for example: “because in manga chapter XX Oda has shown that Yamato is late to the story because of the X factor, that the X factor is the fact that Yamato will not join.”

Oda has explained himself that he actually wanted to finish One Piece in 5 years (back then when One Piece first appeared), and that he actually wanted to make the crew complete even during the East Blue saga. But his editors said otherwise.

Many Carrot fans (like Pot Goblin for example) still hoping that Carrot joins, but they know that it’s either Yamato alone, Yamato and Carrot, or none. You’re the only one here who keeps denying Yamato won’t join but Carrot joins, instead of trying to convince people that Carrot is also joining along with Yamato
But still the facts are still there that Usopp is the central character before he joined. And even if you talk about Nami & Sanji, again, Nami & Sanji were the central character of the specific arc prior joining.
Robin was still considered a villain since she joined the villains organizations. She was a villain, but she had her own agenda. Even with 8 years working with Crocodile, she didn’t fully trust Crocodile and only used him to find her last option of poneglyph in Alabasta. And if you say there is nothing to compensate, Oda still did make the Enies Lobby arc to fulfill the exact same pattern of each Straw Hat: having terrible past
And again Oda could’ve given every single bit of those to Carrot if he really intended Carrot to join, but unfortunately he didn’t. Oda could’ve just simply made Carrot (for example) Kaido’s adopted daughter who ran away to Zou that Jack infiltrated Zou to take her back. But the fact that Oda didn’t do that, means that Oda never intended for Carrot to join.

well I’m a huge Monet fan, and many have been making fun & toxic to Monet. But did I ever once play the victim card & being toxic back to them when they say “Monet is worse case than Carrot”, “Monet is as shitty as Carrot”?
Nope. I simply say that people have their own perspective regarding each character. That’s why they try to respect me being a Monet fan, especially since I don’t force Monet theories to everyone’s throat. If you feel the need to be toxic because of what you call as toxic environment, then that means you’re pretty much immature, easily triggered & influenced with bad influence.
