Character Discussion Do you agree with the disappointment people have regarding Eustass Kid?

I think the fundamental criticism of Kidd's moveset stems from 2 points.
- the lack of creativity from Oda regarding his moveset (which is valid imo).

I think this point is pretty exaggerated
When people say this, I just have to ask, "what do you expect Kid to do with his powers"

People keep bringing up magneto, but wasn't magneto a world destroying character? Yeah obviously Oda isn't going to make Kid that strong at the moment.

Yes, Kid uses his ability to throw metal at people. But that's literally what is power is made to do. And he still has different forms like punk rotten and his bull, which imo are decently creative. At the least its more than what Fujitora does with gravity(in terms of creativity that is)

Anyways all this shows is that people will bash kid for literally anything. It literally doesn't matter what feats Kid gets, because no matter what, he will always be trash in the eyes of some fans simply because his DF abilities are relatively straightforward and not flashy.

Kid's awakening had more hype than Law's and yet it was shitted on by the anti-Kid fans because "its just metal"

If you want to hate on Kid, fine. But at least be honest with it instead of pretending that his feats are bad when they objectively aren't.

So asking Kid to do more is hating him? If there are so many people asking so many questions about Kid in my global One Piece community, it's because there is a real problem and it's not about hate at all.

First time that Oda gives Kid a fight on screen and he has to Share the fight with Law who already had an entire arc devoted to , Oda just put Kid in the story to make him fail with the purpose of making Luffy shine more in contrast.

Personally, I don't hate Kid and I'm not a fan of Kid either. I am neutral on this character

I said before the raid started that if Kidd is lucky, he will be the Pica of Wano.
Considering how high I rate Pica, Kidd hasnt managed to surpass his performance.
He needs a lot more metal to outdo Pica's capabilities if he sticks to "throwing things at people" combat style...

I think he’s fine, I can understand being underwhelmed by him if you believed he was going to be >= to Luffy and/or expected him to be an inevitable fight for Luffy rather than just another ally. I like what his character turned out to be, though I did expect him to have a more creative moveset(not that I think what he has is bad or anything)

I disagree about Fujitora though, I think his moveset was handled in a pretty good way by Oda from what we've seen so far for a Gravity Blade swordsman.

Even if Kid can't be like Magneto, I do expect more creativity.

personally I understand my disappointment with people in the global One Piece community.

He's a good character but I don't know... It seems like he's missing something to make us completely satisfied with him.

I tried to see several reviews of the last chapter and many people pointed out that Law did more damage than Kid against Big Mom. I really feel like it is.

And I have the impression that Kid with his attacks is almost always the same thing he never innovates. It bothers me a lot.

I didn't expect it to be magneto but I really thought it showed something more interesting. I fail to see him as a competitor to Luffy.

What do you think ?

So it's a 130 chapter arc, but I unironically say we have to wait until the arc is over.

I also don't really agree that everyone needs to be throwing AdCoC punches to fight Yonko. I also like that Kid/Law don't follow the same precedent as Luffy when it comes to that.

I also don't really agree that everyone needs to be throwing AdCoC punches to fight Yonko. I also like that Kid/Law don't follow the same precedent as Luffy when it comes to that.

I'm not necessarily asking for Advanced COC for Kid. If Oda wouldn't have made so much hype around Kid, I don't think there would be as many disappointments as there are now.

I disagree because the disappointment is baseless. It is nothing but the result of a mix of feelings:

- Need to prove that character X is better than him (be it character-wise or power-wise), because Kidd has always been handled as a similar, darker shade of the same mold Luffy is made of. Asserting superiority over Kidd gives the reader a false convinction that character X is made of that mold too.

- Antipathy due to him cracking the balance of the story (Luffy's in primis), the first examples were seen in the making of the SN Alliance, then in Udon, now in Onigashima we're are assisting at a complete parallel plot with an Emperor reserved to him and Law. I can see why some readers are salty...

- Feeling of insecurity, this goes back since Sabaody Archipelago, at that time I was a kid and still remember readers bashing at him since that very first introduction... Sometimes I think most of the users that bash him here are the same from those days, insecure for those intentional 15 millions above the MC. lol.

- The sheer hate for a character we barely got glimpses of.
Some readers talk like this is the last time we're gonna see him lmao, reality is this arc (Wano, the Big War) is just his introduction to the plotlines we got info of (RHP, BMP) that will come into play later. Even his own arc, believe it or not.
Overall, its like hating someone for not being already where he'll be in the near future.

I could go on, nothing really changed from those days. Actually, the way Kidd menages to get on readers nerves while earning achievements at the same time is a pretty unique trait that entertains me. Even 10+ years later.

Kidd is a shining anomaly in the estabilished order of One Piece World, an anomaly that gives the turbo to the whole story.
In my opinion, the reader who dislikes a character like Kidd in a pirates manga should check better what to spend his time reading.

To me Kid is a failed version of Luffy. But to be fair i will say my thoughts.

What we learned this Arc is brute force isn't everything aka Act 1 Luffy vs Kaido. Oda made Zoro "Get Lost in a weird way" just to take him out of the scenes where Luffy can 1v1 Kaido only for Luffy to lose and to show us readers You can Punch Down a Dragon but did that do anything? Zoro knew Ryou and can hurt Kaido which is one the reasons Oda made Zoro lose his way. But ultimately even with Zoro they both will lose.

So with that we confirmed no matter how big your muscles are "G4" or how hard your punches are "G3" against monsters that have tough skins you will only do external damage which won't do anything.

Kid is in the same position Luffy was and he still is. He is still attacking them hoping it works somehow. Now i get his mindset and what he meant in the last chapter. Even Rains can wear down Mountains. Something as hard/tough/strong as Mountains "BigMom Kaido" can be worn down by Rains "External Damage" it make sense in a way but still how long will it take for Rains to Break Mountains? Can Kid keep it up hoping Big Mom gets worn out ? "Big Mom stated in the chapter that she is beat". Just to stop her to go up to Kaido.

You can interpret those lines in so many ways. But this is how i received it. Maybe rereading the rooftop fight again and focusing on Kid's perspective on how Luffy and Zoro did so much and witnessing their Strong will and how far they are willing to go to take down Kaido. To me is the reason he settled for Big Mom since they both are outsiders in this battle for Wano. And he is now doing what he can do best since he now "i think" knows he has no chance to do anything but stall Big Mom. Will his plan work and Big Mom loses by exerting so much energy on him and law? or will he be able to outlast her and take the W?

These are my thoughts.

To me he is by far the most disapointing of the Supernovas.

While i didnt expect much from guys like Hawkins, Drake, Capone, Uroge and Apoo, but they showed to be ok characters, with some small development and some cool abilities.

But Kid and Law were show the be more than the other supernovas plotwise, and while Law have been getting a lot of development since Punk Hazard, with a full arc about him, with one of the best FB of the story, and a DF that he can use in a lot of amazing ways and have a lot of conection with Imu, Kid become more and more a background character.

He dont get development, and to me he look just as a teenager who screen and try to look like a bad boy, to a point that its just cringe, and his fruit, while it have potential to use some cool powers, have become just boring to see, he just use the same ability of making a pile of metal trash.

Killer have become more interesting than he.
