It wouldn't be surprising if JoyBoy and Nika were the same person, or if both of them are titles referring to the same thing.

I have mix feeling about the chapter wish the powers revelations was a bit smoother ..
so I think the name joyboy is a nick name that comes from the fruit like firefist ace comes from the df. the human human fruit model :sun god nika , the word nika in japan also means laugh so when the df user is in the awaking form they laugh all the time hence the nick name joyboy. so i think joyboy name is tie to the fruit not the person like I originally thought. who ever was the user of the df 800 years ago is dead and gone .. so the real question is what's the real name of the df user 800 year ago?? perhaps the D in the will of D is their true name.

They knew about his powers since Enies Lobby and did nothing about it until now?? Don't even say they chased him for the fruit because they didn't. They were more focused on Robin than anything else.
I feel like Joyboy is the will of the fruit or something. Luffy is still Luffy, but he also has the will of Joyboy manifested into him which is why he acts different than regular self. Nika is just a fruit and we are told that Zoan's have a mind/will of their own, so Joyboy is most likely the will of the fruit.

and after (post-marineford) At that point the SH pirates went on hiatus and trained for 2 years on secluded on Island that either where hidden from the WG, hiding and training with revolutionaries or not even a island at all. plus ruskaina is in calm belt. So they were fucked there because they wouldnt be able to get to luffy without the help of kuja pirate (which is allied with luffy).
(even then they sent kuma after beating moria and after that arc luffy punched a WN which is a death sentence in of its self. (plus kuma was there bfr tfo them out).

Yeah but it's kind of implied that awakening the Model: Nika fruit is a way to inherit the JoyBoy title, at least their users give similar vibes since Zunesha even comments on it. Nika being a completely separate entity, probably not even a real individual is likely for sure though, the Nika legends are probably just previous instances of awakened Model: Nika users.
