i don't really get this logic of kaido already being awakened and using it its basically akin to goku already being in kaioken vs frieza and frieza was wrecking him, up to this point nothing luffy has done has pushed kaido like that so i can't see him needing awakening and already have been using it

Here's what I think, if it's not a new form, it's just the concept of transforming whenever you want and whoever that is Awakening for Zoans.

Marco and King for example, both can just partially transform their wings and still be human. To me that sounds like awakening, i.e. "when the body and mind catch up to your devil fruit"

Kaido has shown 5 forms basically:

- Dragon
- Dragon/Hybrid "Hybrid" (to mimick Snakeman's speed in 1042)
- Hybrid/Dragon "Hybrid" (his buff dragonlike hybrid shown in 1037/1042)
- Basic Hybrid
- Ogre

Again, this is just based on observations with his forms, he does have 2 odd transformations when it comes his Dragon/Hybrid forms. He can easily use all of his mythical powers, etc.

Now compare that to Luffy, it makes sense to an extent that they are both achieving the same thing, it's just that Kaido is far more used to using it all the time and why young pirates like Kid/Law/Luffy aren't. Same goes for Doffy, Marco, Kata and King (if we consider Marco/King to also be doing the same thing).

We need to stop taking an old-pre-timeskip definition of awakening and just follow the one Kaido has stated this chapter....

"When your body and mind catch up to your devil fruit, that is awakening"

Nobody has ever overshadowed Luffy's fights guys. The arc is almost over. This is the climactic battle.
Hopefully next chapter fully focus Luffy vs Kaido, as I think we would be fixed.

wait lmao how does luffys crew vs kaido overshadow him the heck...if they can hold him off isn't that nothing but a testament to luffys crew that he has hand picked and just adds to luffys greatness as a captain

Yeah I think it'll mostly be them. Imo the Momo saving Onigashima thing will take as long as it will for Kaido to lose. Once he loses, that's when Momo saves Onigashima.

I'd say the fight has 2-4 chapters left in it at most (1049/1050), depending on other content shown. After this, maybe Kaido gets his flashback as he loses for another couple of chapters (think how Senor Pink lost to get what I mean).

Because they already had their fights guys.... Kaido isn't Oars. Wano isn't Thriller Bark. Kaido vs Luffy is the climactic fight. There isn't any set up "team" battle waiting to happen. People are on their last legs.

Nah I've been saying this for months. It's customary that Luffy's fights are 10-12 chapters at most following the last battle. This normally includes other scenes as well, but mostly like 6-7 chapters of actual fight content. Seriously you can look this up with his past fights.

I have been saying since 1040 that the fight will probably last to ~1050 once we got to that point. I do believe Oda will try and wrap up this raid this volume (vol 104 should be 1046-1055), so if it includes his FB and other big moments like Momo saying Onigashima and Orochi getting cut down, it works.

I'm of 2 halves. Either:

- It's as you say, his "body and mind" have caught up to his power. He can freely transform and use his zoan powers flawlessly. Awakening is mean to be a mastered application of the zoan users powers, so this makes sense. For example, Marco and King also do this stuff. Partially transforming whenever they feel like. Kaido has shown no less than 5 different forms as a matter of fact if you pay attention, all a mixture of his ogre/dragon qualities

- Or legit is hiding some hidden monstrous form as a result of it, and can't use it until he knows he will go down
Wait for official viz translation before interpreting I will say

I think Kaido has awakening but the mention of the mind makes me think that he isn’t able to control it. Which is why he grows stronger when he drinks. He’s limiting his mind and in doing so empowers his devil fruit.
Kaido maybe has body control but not mind?

What if this fight make him unlock it and almost defeat Luffy again? :steef::steef::steef:

I was thinking the exact same too but after seeing how many pages Oda dedicated to dealing with the fire in 1046 now I'm convinced that he wants to stall for a bunch chapters more and end the raid around 1060

what's your interpretation of this prophecy then?
That the people of Wano are going to witness nine straw hats fighting Kaido until Luffy comes in and defeats him with a red roc/red Hawk.

Luffy being the dawn and ending the fight with a punch that the anime made look like a sun and is inspired by Ace goes along with the prophecy as well as the promise Ace made to Tama and Yamato.

The nine straw hats under him being the nine shadows goes along with Odens prophecy of powerful pirates bursting into the new world in twenty years (almost no other pirate crew in Wano entered the new world in 20 years after odens death) and Kaidos quote at the beginning of the fight with the scabbards about Luffy casting heavy shadows.

Finally why it needs to be seen by the people of the flower capital is the last line “you shall know the brilliant dawn” they need to witness Luffys valor and strength in person. Hearing about it is not as impactful as seeing Luffy the new sun god freeing these slaves from Kaido.
