Joyboy is strong enough to rival Ryuma. It has to do with Joyboy or the power that allow someone to become Joyboy.

The scene isn't meant to show parallel between Luffy and Ryuma. If that was the case the manga would have talked about Luffy not Joyboy or talked about Luffy being the next Ryuma.

But Luffy and Zoro were and still are not meant be emotional toward each other.

Luffy is the only crew member Zoro has cried in front of. Remember the Mihawk duel. Zoro for the most part is stoic, so he does not so emotion easily, the most he has show has been due to his captain.
