Main themes of Wano is loyalty and letting go of the past.



Orochi for example was loyal to the Kozukis until he discovered his lineage. Because of what happened to his family in the past, Orochi immediately turned on the Kozukis and plunged Wano into terror. Despite being loyal to Kaido for like 25 years, Kaido betrayed him in a heartbeat.



Oden is portrayed as a ghost from the past. Everyone talks about Oden and gets compared to him like the Scabbards, Momo etc. Momo and some of the Scabbards literally jumped to the future but only looks at the past. The Scabbards couldn't let go of the fact that Oden was dead so they lost to Kaido and was repeatedly fooled by Kanjuro.

Yamato has to let go of Oden. She isnt Oden. Her development is likely getting rid of the Oden madness and realizing that she wants to sail the seas because she wants to, not because of Oden.

That's part of the legacy theme.



Momonosuke is the literal son of Oden and said he is proud to be his son. Kaido wanted Momo for forsake his name.



The Scabbards are the literal scabbard of Oden and are proud of it. They repeatedly turned down offers to forsake Oden and join Kaido.



Yamato however is just fascinated by Oden. She has no confidence as Yamato so she relies on the Oden identity. When Yamato came at Momo and Shinobu as Oden, they thought she was a crazy person and ran. Only when she spoke to them as Yamato did they come around. Her Oden stick is even portrayed as annoying even to Luffy, who only started to trust her when she spoke to him as Yamato.

I always prepared for her not joining becusse of that dumbass Oden stuff. For me, she had to get rid of it to be a lock but she kept it till the end.

My argument was always that Yamao would 100% be staying with Momo at the end of the arc. That much was incredibly obvious. I predicted that her and Momo would have a significant relationship before they even met one another, simply based on the setup of her character.

I wasn't completely accurate about every precise detail since I'm not the author. But the main points that Yamao would definitely be staying with Momo and there was no chance of her joining, was incredibly obvious and forecasted a million times.

Meanwhile you couldn't even begin to wrap your head around the basic writing of a children's manga then and you still can't now, even whilst it's fucking you in the ass. Have shame.

I’d say some were very viable:

1. She had no role on the ship

2. She had no connection to the crew

3. She had no dream



These were all very viable reasons for her not to join because they show the biggest issue with Yamato, oda never built her character up properly as a straw hat.

1. Jinbe didn't show a role until he joined.

2. Yamato had a connection with Luffy, and meet all the SHs after the main battle.

3. Her dream was to sail the seas and be free. Brooke wants to reunite with a whale and Usopp to be a brave warrior of the seas.

These arguments always had a good counter argument against them.

Wrong. Jinbe was shown taking the helm after impel down. In fact the anime (not canon) when farthest by making him climb the Tsunami.

Yamato was never setup with a role.

These arguments always had a good counter argument against them.

Wrong, her dream was to be free, to sail the sea was just the way to achieve that. Also Brook dream is bigger than that, he don't want to just meet Laboon. He want to play the recorder audio of his fallen crew to Laboon .

Maybe in your logbook... But throughout the entirety of the thread I only ever had 2 stances which I changed depending on newer info, but I always said either was very likely.

1. Guardian Yamao would be a daimyo or retainer in Wano for Momo (ch. 987-998)
2. Guardian Yamao and Momo would leave Wano together to open the borders and reconnect Wano with the outside world (ch. 999-1054)
3. Guardian Yamao would be a daimyo or retainer in Wano with Momo (1055-

Flying needed to activate. While jumping is like a breath for "rabbit" mink. CoO can't detect ship or island from 20 km. If CoO can detect it we already in laughtale for sure without road Poneglyphs. CoO also can't be activated if you have someone who can stop CoO.

Tbh maybe Yamato not joining is better for her character.
The sh cast is already too large for Oda to manage giving them the focus they need to develop and showcase their character properly.

It's not far fetched to assume that Oda would have ruined her as a strawhat, her presence would have been consumed by boob gags earlier or later and don't even mention the I'm Oden gags.
Imagine the bathhouse scene but driven up to eleven.

Oda took all the bad aspects about One Piece I never liked and steadily expanded upon them while removing the things that I used to like.
Wano's thematic nonsense ending that encourages heritage-based discrimination (like WHAT THE ACTUAL F.) is the icing on the cake. When even WCI had more consistency as an arc that should tell you something.

We shouldn't expect too much from Oda's writing in the future.
He announced that he will rush the ending, that means removal of plot lines we have been anticipating for YEARS. We can expect that he's going to fill those final 5 years with more throwaway characters, more unnecessary reaction faces, more boob and nosebleed jokes.

And at this point I'm beginning to question the thematic coherence of the series's finale.
Will he go for an all CDs bad ending and throw all the complexity about one's actions counting more than one's heritage out of the window?
And at this point I fully expect him to never reveal any of the eos events to the general population in the One Piece world. Just like the citizens of Wano, the people will remain unknowledgeable, passive fodder characters that turn to mythicized tales of gods and magical heroes instead of having (or even wanting) a clear view on the global events that shape their world.
I doubt they will ever find out about Luffy saving them.

All in all, this story has become a disappointment and a shell of its former self. An over-marketed, hyper-commercialised shell.
