Mihawk Reigns Supreme
When Zoro cuts and maybe even kills Kaido, we must prepare ourselves for the essays of bullshit that Zoro haters will come up with to devalue the feat
:whitepress:
Exactly.
'Kaido didn't eat breakfast that day so he wasn't at full power' 'The Sun was in Kaido's eyes so he couldn't see him' ' Hurr durr magic sword'
Zoro just cut skin, which anyone with a blade can do. Axe Hand Morgan cut Garp, that means he can cut Kaido too :luuh:

With this you can start seeing why Ryuma was called the sword god.

Looks like the teachings that Koshiro was giving to Zoro originated from Ryuma.
The ability to cut iron that wano people practice comes from him.
Kinemon's fire style is probably a derivative of Ryuma's techniques.

Ryuma strongly believed that saving a life was a debt that must be repaid by those with virtue, and that repaying this debt was the way of a true swordsman.

It also looks like a lot of the characteristics Zoro shows are derived from Ryuma. This is probably why Zoro decided to follow Luffy in order to repay the debt of Luffy saving his life.

To this end, Ryuma would occasionally follow the request of someone he owed almost blindly, even when it contradicted his other beliefs.

We have been told multiple times that Zoro is not the type to follow orders, however, he decided to follow Luffy despite not wanting to follow anyone. Cause to him, repaying the debt he owes Luffy superceeds his not wanting to follow anyone. This is the way of a true swordsman.

The second Ryuma was born. Zoro will definitely cut dragon flames. He has already learnt Ryuma's technique to cut iron. :finally:

Zoro - Oden parallels spelled out, again courtesy of @Xdrake:
- Oden can't find his way to sail. Zoro lost in his way to find Mihawk.
- Both Oden and Zoro met 26 years old Toki/Hiyori.
- Both rescued them and fainted.
- Both treated by those kawaii chan.
- Toki/Hiyori cried in their arm.
- Both furious at Orochi.
- Orochi frightened by them.
- Both use 2 sword style in an attempt to kill Orochi.
- Both got stopped by someone. (Bari Bari no mi, Denijiro).
- Both the only human being to tame Enma.

another parallel is their relationship with Hiyori.
oden is hiyori's father
zoro is hiyori's daddy

I'll be writing a thread analysing the case for Zoro wounding Kaido this arc. I'm taking a softer position than Zoro slaying Kaido for a few reasons:
  • It's strictly more likely that Zoro would injure Kaido than that he would slay him.
    • In order to slay him, he would injure him. While Zoro can injure him without slaying him.
  • It's an easier conclusion to accept than Zoro slaying Kaido.
    • The strongest counterargument (that Zoro should not outshine Luffy) for Zoro slaying Kaido is much weaker if it's merely about Zoro injuring him.
    • The Strawhats rarely kill their opponents in general. Zoro in particular has killed before, but on priors the likelihood of Zoro killing an arbitrary opponent he faces is low.

I would appreciate help with the panels, evidence and arguments.

@Fiji, @Light D Lamperouge you may be interested in this endeavour.

Youre terrified. Its happening im gonna win the bet and youre gonna be my bitch.
It's not happening.
Why do you think he won't cut Kaido? Scepticism about killing is more understandable.
He has no business being apart of the Kaido fight given he'll be with King most of the arc. Kidd, Law and potentially even Hawkins have more reason to be there to assist Luffy.

Meh. The more intentional parallel's are Luffy and Oden. Their relationship with the Scabbards and the themes of the arc, placing emphasis on dedication and loyalty to your lord; doing right by your lord, resonate with what the Strawhats are to Luffy and vice versa. Even the pension to sail the seas, and lets not forget that recent Jump Cover, Oda clearly linking Luffy, Roger, and Oden.

Zoro's the guy who will surpass Oden as a swordsman. As Oden is the strongest samurai of recent memory. The strongest one living characters can use to gauge against Zoro, as seen with Hitetsu claiming Zoro will achieve a Black Blade soon.
