The thing with religious texts is that it was written by someone from someone who supposedly said those things.
Iirc for the New Testament it was written 300 years after the death of the "child of God", and thus subject to manipulation by the Men of that Era.
This poses several dilemmas:
1- We have no idea if the author had verifiable sources.
2- We don't know if it wasn't manipulated to further some kind of agenda in that Era.
3- The so called prophets, even though they entered a trance state to receive those messages from Spiritual Beings, we have no idea if those beings were aligned with the Higher Purpose or were low vibrational beings.
4- it is unclear if they received those messages without interference from nearby sources or other spiritual interference.
5- Messages from the Spiritual Realm are adjusted to the mentality of that Era in a way that the human brain can process and remember. Everything is done and given progressivly so that Humanity can slowly adjust and slowly evolve (in terms of reaching Higher Consciouness and Unity with All that Is).
As such old religious served their purpose, but nowadays (or for a long time now) it should be taken with a "grain of salt", for lack of a better wording.
