Does anyone have a clue how long casting may take?

There's quite many characters they need just for the first season. Even the first episode has already a lot of characters to show, and I wonder how long that may take

This Burgess guy is not Ussop. He might be trying to get the role, but if he actually had it Netflix would have made him sign an NDA about to stop him announcing himself to the world. That's the Netflix PR departments job.

Lol the guy who plays Usopp is pretty good at slingshotting.

But yh theyre obviously going for older actors. Tbh if they wanna market this for a world-wide audience....nobody wants to see a group of teenagers taking down all these organisations. Its unrealistic and can easily be seen as one of those lame teen dramas. So people crying about age should really stop.

We should be grateful that theyre actually sticking to the ethnicites that Oda picked. So far Zoro is Asian and Usopp is African.

Lewis Tan - Zoro

Heres his swordsmanship

Brandon Burgess - Usopp

Im good with the casting so far. All that really matters is if they can get the characters right.
These two seems not bad for the cast. But what I'm really worried about is the make up and costume design.

I am worried rather about the character design in total. Since some character have really weird proportions or design traits or in general small things that make it seem whole.

For example:
- Usopps nose
- Sanjis hair (always covering one eye)
- Sanjis eyebrow
- Any character with missing eyebrows (Smoker, Dragon,...)
- Fancy hair colors (Nami, Nojiko, Zoro,...)
- outfits that would look hideous in real life, such as Buggys, the Cat brothers from Kuro, Pearl or Don Krieg
- In general the color scheme, which should be handled more realistic and less saturated

Probably not a good comparison but if Star Trek got away with weird characters, so can OP. And Nami's hair color isn't that far off from realism. Zoro's on the other hand... that's gonna look very bad in live action.

Never watched Star Trek so I can't compare very well...
Also I mean there's the chance they'll go with wigs and stuff... But mhh.
I wonder how it will look like haha

The live action will fix a problem that has plagued the manga and anime, slow pacing.

No way to drag the entire story in 9 seasons years, 90 episodes

And they should go to UK.
UK îs a gold mine of actors

This is definitely true. You can't do things slowly in live action like in manga or anime. Also they have the issue already mentioned once with the aging of characters.

And I believe if they are doing well with the live action and have a good response, I beliebe they will continue working on it without many breaks.

There are a lot of arcs to cover but I think if they can put East Blue into one season, then maybe they will be able to do the arcs in seasons as followed:
1. East Blue Saga
2. Alabasta Saga + Skypeia Saga (Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, Drum, Alabasta, Jaya and Skypeia)
3. Enies Lobby Saga (Davy Backfight, Water Seven, Enies Lobby, Post Enies Lobby)
4. Thriller Bark and Sabaody Archipelago (depending on length maybe even Amazon Lily but I tell you, the disappearance of whole SH crew would be a great cliffhanger!)
5. Summit War Saga (Amazon Lily, Impel Down, Marineford, Post-Marineford)
6. Reunion Saga (Sabaody, Fishman Island)
7. Dressrosa Saga (Punk Hazard, Dressrosa, maybe even Zou as Sanji Cliffhanger?)
8. Yonko Territory Saga (WCI and Wano)

If the series will ever run that long. Maybe they'll have different season lengths but cliffhangers and arc ends are enough to use

I think the arcs and seasons are going to be this way.

Season 1: East Blue
Season 2: Alabasta
Season 3: Jaya+Skypiea
Season 4: Water Seven+Enies Lobby
Season 5: Thriller Bark+Shabaody
Season 6: Amazon Lily+Impel Down+Marineford
Season 7: Shabaody 2+Fishman Island+Punk Hazard
Season 8: Dressrosa+Zou
Season 9: Whole Cake Island+Reverie
Season 10: Wano

I Can Go Lower
Y’all know Netflix has a stated policy of “three and done” with their shows, right? Plenty of them have surpassed this mark, but way more have been cut off after a trio of seasons. I agree that each saga needs enough room to breathe and grow, but I wouldn’t expect the studio to give them 11 seasons even considering the source material. Of course, if it’s profitable enough, anything could happen...all the more reason for them to get this right.

That may be true but for now we can dream, right? And I mean judging by it, I think a lot of OP fans will at least try to watch it.

well that is Cosplay and takes a lot of time to put together just for the funsies. It's clear that they will use CGI for things like that. So I wouldn't be worried about that. It might only look either too scary in real life or absolutely ridiculous and I am excited to see which one it will be in the end.

right, it will cost a lot of budget so let's just hope for a decent CGI, i'd vote for the scary one rather than ridiculous one tho

Well judging by the leaked script One Piece live action will most probably have a darker and more serious vibe, so I wouldn't be surprised if Fishmen looked more scary. I would love for them to be more casual though, and not ultimately scary, because of Jinbe etc. They can be nice and genuinely friendly too. I mean even Arlong smiled and laughed (in an evil way though). I think it'll be fine.

If I look at the "monsters" of the Witcher for example, they looked good too (besides the dragon, sorry Borch). So I hope the Fishmen, as the most present One Piece non-human race, will be okay too.

right, one piece in manga and anime is quite funny and goofy, would be interesting if they actually do something different in live action

Generally speaking they should be looking to get 100 chapters into a 10 episode season, which is helpfully enough pretty much how Oda's split things up the first half of the series. EB, Baroque Works, Skypiea and EL all get done in about 100 chapters.

It's when we get to TB to the end of the timeskip things get a bit messy. Assuming the series has survived until then.

Also, Skypiea might get cut. Or even changed in order and come after EL. If they are operating under the "give it three seasons and then re-evaluate" rule then they'll likely rather try and get EL done rather than Skypiea.

I definitely wouldn't like that... That would mean they would have to add Franky to the whole adventure and that would mess up a lot. That's like that movie where Robin is present during Drum Island.
