I think that's pretty much the core of the conflict: boundless freedom. It's what Luffy stands for. It's probably what JoyBoy stood for, too. Freedom for everybody, no matter the cost. For Luffy and JoyBoy personally it just means to have fun, adventure through the seas and eat good food. But others will inevitable come to abuse this freedom for selfish, even downright evil reasons.

It’s possible that Joyboy wanted to create Pangaea by using whatever the one piece is to bring the continents together. This would definitely give people more freedom as it would allow people to easily move between the countries. But it would also cause more war as resource and border disputes would erupt.

We basically know now the WG ,had an Ancient Weapon since the Void Century ,but they could not use it until VP invented the mother flame .
That‘s a bit of past Lore.

I wonder if the Yami is gonna be a key in the defeat of Imu. In any case Oda keeps that fruit's true power hidden even more than the S tier logia fruits (we never saw them completely unleashed either, closest was the aftermath of the Akainu/Aokiji fight). Blackbeard was a meticulous individual in his research, so whatever the direction we can expect the Yami to be utterly ridiculous.

Mediocre Lore Reveals - the devil fruits come from people's dreams, the Gorosei are demons, Nefertaris are D. clan members, Shanks' father is the leader of a team of OP Celestial Dragons, the last ancient weapon, the Ancient Kingdom was futuristic, the Void Century was a great flood and it's happening again

Mediocre characterisation - Kuma, Bonney, Vegapunk, Saturn, Sentomaru, Stussy and yes, Kizaru

Underwhelming antagonists - 5 awakened zoan gorosei trying to steal nuclear weapons to destroy the planet, one of which tortured Kuma and Bonney all their lives

None of this is compelling to you? Imo this arc has been more compelling than the series has been in like 10 years.

It's about revealing info to the world, not the viewer. The problem also is, that we only get one chapter like every 1-2 weeks, so it would naturally seem dragged. When compressed into a volume, it might be perceived differently.
