Why did you decide to sign up for Worstgen?

To avoid getting spoiled, I'd stopped following online OP discussions for years. Early 2018 I decided to join OJ and start following spoilers again. Due to OJ mods censoring any WG advertisement I never knew WG existed, so I tried following other communities after OJ, but never found any to be as enjoyable.

Then when CH 957 was trending, I saw a link to the spoiler discussion here and recognized some of the OGs from back in the day. Glad this place exists, because it's the only OP fan community that I find to be fun.

For me, I was just searching for something One Piece related (Sabo/Ace related, I think), and this place popped up. It looked vibrant so I thought why not make an account since I don't have anyone to discuss OP with. Didn't know they'd give me modship :catsweat:

That is not what happened! :goatasure:Ok yes, I bully people to join WG.
Yeaaa.. sorry about that. That modship was supposed to be mine but it got lost in the mail and found its way to you. If you could kindly give it back to me, t’would be very much appreciated :kizabat:

Can anyone answer why the OJ mods were so insistent on stifling any word about WG the last few weeks it was operational? I wasn’t embroiled enough in the politics of that place to be in the loop.
Psychological matters

It's when people turn obsessed over insignificant stuff to the point it turns pathological :)

I guess you are picturing it now

Heh, funny story. So grab your coffee and listen up.

I was previously on Orojackson Forums before (in my impression) one of the biggest/also most troublesome One Piece Discussion Forums at the time, until the site was gonna shut down because they were getting sued. Days before that happened I was searching for my new One Piece home. At the time, friend and fellow Worstgen User @Arara introduced me to Worstgen. At the same time I was debating where to go because the mods on Orojackson forums was still deciding on their website, so everyone was in a frenzy. Originally, I wanted to follow wherever Orojackson forums was going (now moved to a new site called ThrillerBark Forums), that was until I also told a friend and fellow user on Orojackson forums about Worstgen, the mods saw it and I was insta-perma-banned (yes, instantly-permanently-banned). Best decision I ever made, cause I never saw the toxic people who were Orojackson users ever again (I think at least, don't know how many people from Orojackson forums migrated here after the shutdown and changed their usernames, I kept and still use the same username).

:madmonk:

I never regret my decision, because looking back now on the Thrillerbark forums: @larsi is still admin (the strict admin who i think was the one who insta-banned me back on Orojackson just because I was recommending Worstgen Forums to a fellow user and friend), and also because now I see a former Orojackson bully called @Nessos (who i got into a personal argument with), is now one of the new admins! Crazy!

:catrude:

At the beginning, i was still salty and sad that Orojackson shut down before i achieved the Legendary Rank, i didn't even achieve Yonko Rank! But after how i was treated and got booted off the forums in the last week the site was going offline for good, joining Worstgen Forums was the best decision ever and i couldn't be happier.

:optimistic:

Over the couple of months more of my friends from orojackson forums have joined worstgen, @Celestial D. Dragon recently, and also former orojackson user and friend @Jazzyjoy92(forgot her new name on Worstgen forums, haven't seen her for a while, so sad :catcry:), so in the end it was all worth it and one of the best decisions i ever made! :catblush:

And that's it, story time's over folks, hope you liked it!

It’s more like they lacked the funds to keep the site going, the site became too big for the cost of a hobby as you said. They tried getting ads/funding but it was a no go so, shutdown. Too bad really cause there were a lot of memories in that place.
Crazy theories and just funny shenanigans :(
Yeah that's true, but if I remember correctly, they were also getting sued/blackmailed for copyright by some outside entity and the mods couldn't afford to get a lawyer or go to court to defend the site, and so they end up having to give up on it and pull the site down.(I remember the message they put out a few months before it shut down.) The original mods: Larsi, Beky and Chris Mic are all still active on their new forum Thriller Bark, of course i was a lurker too when Orojackson forums first started out, so i don't know who was the original owner and creator of Orojackson forums, I thought it was originally made by a guy by the username Divvens and a fellow friend of his (can't remember his name), but i think his friend moved on and left as a mod.

Very good story, those mods did you a service. Isn't it weak on their part to censor out WG? It seems pointless, because not only is it a big community and I'm sure a lot of people would have also decided to go to Thrillerbark after the end of OJ but... People can make accounts on both sites? Maybe it's because in the end a person is going to spend much more time on one forum than the other.

Anyway, bottom line: it was a blessing in disguise to get banned:myman:

Yup, just like the old saying goes: "they didn't ban me, I just left early from a already sinking ship" :moonwalk:

Eh I like nf too if only because people there are cool too, has the same variety if not more sub forums than here and also has that very personalized ratings system instead of just like/not like that we have here. Tho the mods are more strict there and I have to admit I like the people a bit more here.
