Character Discussion One Arm Shanks is Carrying Mihawk on his Back..

What does caring about Swordsmanship mean? Zoro shoots haki beams too. He obviously cares about it to make it his main fighting style
Shoots CoA Haki beams..

I will say the root core of the problem is that Oda obviously favors Shanks way more then he does Mihawk. It translates into the story and how most fans view them.

Mihawk as a character isnt treated well at all imo irregardless of power levels.
That's the reason why Oda has not shown Mihawk's base CoC?.. I guarantee you Mihawk can't split the sky..

Swordsmanship is about cutting. As koshiro says, a swordsman should be able to cut anything they desire.

Shanks is a swordsman, but his use of haki goes beyond the scope of swordsmanship as evident by the fact he does not cut people.

It’s not that Zoro uses haki. Zoro uses haki to cut, Shanks does not.

Shanks used his sword to send a targeted CoC blast at GB to paralyze him. It should be very obvious that such a feat goes beyond the scope of the art of swordsmanship, which is primarily concerned with cutting.

Also, I’d bet that something like future sight is also beyond the scope of swordsmanship. Swordsmen use CoO to sense the breath of things, which helps allows them to cut them.

Fortune telling has no bearing on swordsmanship.

is simply a fact that while Shanks is a swordsman, swordsmanship isn’t his main power. His main power is advanced haki and he utilizes advanced haki in a way that falls outside the bounds of swordsmanship.

Swordsmanship = cut what you desire and protect what you desire

Shooting haki lightning at GB isn’t primarily a sword feat.

Divine departure, a haki shockwave, isn’t primarily a sword feat either.
Shanks is still protecting what he wants. And if he does that without wanting to cut motherfuckers thats still swordsmanship as per your shared panel

Do you think Shanks intended to protect Captain Kid when he destroyed him and sunk his ship?

Cutting nothing is about control over your blade. It’s being able to hit a piece of paper without destroying it, or for a more practical example, Mihawk slicing Zoro without killing him.

A blade like enma is unruly. It uses more haki than is needed. Controlling it is difficult. Controlling a supreme grade is likely even more difficult.

But there’s a difference between this and using literal non cutting attacks. Someone who specializes in haki shockwaves or a DF is literally incapable of cutting everything. This is why Mihawk is WSSM over the other swordsmen top tiers, despite not having defeated them.

Fujitora needs to throw meteors and use gravity because he’s incapable of cutting everything. Same with Shanks and his advanced haki powers.

But this isn’t a blanket statement of power level. It simply scales their skill in swordsmanship.

Even if i dont like shanks but there is something to his personality/aura that tends me to believe he is actually stronger than Mihawk.
I hope Mihawk lives upto his title and shows us something other than postponing fight with yonko commanders and aligning with the joker.

Would Shanks' own declaration that Mihawk is far superior do the job? :quest:

Mihawk tards read this Manga like Shanks it the one receiving hype from Mihawk and not the opposite, remove Akagami from Mihawk what does he have?

While remove Mihawk from Shanks, he still has all his hype and feats. Literally Shanks never got hyped using Mihawk.
