You are confusing multiple subject. I was talking about basic help for BASIC needs for people in dire help.
You are the one bringing people who don't want to work and purpusefully mix the two things. Those are not the same !
Everyone without distinction should be able to access to help for basic need, EVEN if after the fact they refuse to contribute. That's called equality. It's basic humanity.

I disagree. Due to a limit on resources and the fact that people's labour creates those resources (for example farmers and food) I think it is categorically unfair that ONE person would have to work for free effectively to provide for the basic needs of those who'd refuse to work.
That makes no sense.
You have too luxurious a way of viewing things. People do not deserve things simply because they are alive. Living is an effort, and we must give it our all to survive, each and every one of us.
The only people I wish to support are those who are either a) close to me (family, friends, neighbours), or; b) those who have genuine issues that prevent them fending for themselves.

I think were most opinions differ is what exactly "basic need" is.
If you think of just enough basic food to stay healthy and a shelter/place to sleep (simple bed in a mass housing) - ok, I'm with you.
If you think "basic needs" means enough money to enjoy entertainment, events, restaurant meals etc. - no I don't agree here.
The latter is luxury and you should contribute to society in order to earn it.
