Meaning, the way it releases Ryuu feels will affect his stamina in fights.. and will be adding more stress and uncontrollable slashes of ryuu... but also, as Zoro stated, once he got FULL CONTROL of it, full mastery, he will be Stronger... because his Ryuu will be much better, and also, the sword is already among the 21 O-Wazomono WITHOUT being a black blade... while Shusui is a 21 O-Wazomono but it's ALREADY black blade.... so basically Shusui reached its full potential... while Enma Still didn't... cause it can be upgraded to the rank of 12 supreme swords category once turned into black sword...

So, overall, it's a NERF in the process of becoming a BUFF in near future

I guess this proves that his skin isn't impossible to penetrate but also in the last page shows no wound and he look clean, meaning the wound were either superficial or/and his dragon zan got regen capacities (scary thought)
