To be fair I remember multiple times having to hold 1v15 discussions at a rate of 3 message a minute.
The good ol Nakama thread dayz
I still don't understand how my mind can hold such motivation to write here and can't even push me to boil down water
Deleted. I don't want to push more energy than needed on a place that doesn't care about their own rules anymore. Plus, I can't be the only one pushing the train. Gladly people are starting to realize how much positivity is really needed here lately. The thread of Blax is such example. I believe positivity will find a way.. well unless this forum doesn't implode before that. #crash
People (
and I include myself) became so insensibilized to toxicity, we shouldn't find this environment okay. It's possible to have fun without trashing others other the story for no reasons really.
And here I was... thinking that people finally managed to understand how bad and copypasted these critics were
But it seems like people didn't grow up
You don't say... This is also the time where I started to denounce the problem of global toxicity in the fanbase.
Strange... right?
I'm glad I stayed out of forums at the time. I could have created a big mess.
Mate.. i've been talking about the problem for 4 years. Do you think that 1 thread can make a difference ? Also, I took Blax's thread into consideration in the balance. This is why I defended it so much. But it's not enough and the point stands.
There is no real positive thread, at best you get theories, not what we could find back in the days with analysis and actual awe.
Of course you will get a gem once in a while, but for one gem, you will get 200 trashtalk and this is without taking into account the answer of each thread. You need to wake up on the reality of this fanbase (not just the forum). Negativity is everywhere, its becoming the defaut preset.
Who said that?
It's not about dickriding Oda at the first occasion, being a fan simply means appreciating the little things that the story brings, creating analysis, building project around the story, trashtalking of course, creating an effervescence around the material, developping groups of discussion, going beyond the medium, creating new fan stories, appreciating the culture arround the media, staying fresh on its understanding and its critic of course.
BUT
The only thing this of the fanbase seems to do now, is trashtalk. When it's not trashtalking people who write analysis, it's trashtalking people who theorize. When its not directed on theorizers it's trashtalking people expressing their love for the story, when it's not the story, it's people who love certains characters, when it's not about characters, it's between powerscaling agenda, when it's not about people between agenda, it's against new fans or other fanbase.
We fell so deep into the rehearsal of self-centered anticulture trashtalk and memification that people are now trashtalking the trashtalkers in order to be considered the winners of trashtalkers. The One Piece fanbase
(or rather, the internet fandom culture) is becoming a self-feeding loop of toxic desilusion structured by the trashtalk culture.
Yes, trashtalking is fun. But it's destructive.
Good for you. I didn't need to read this book to understand the social reality of taste. Didn't even know it existed.
My point is the following : The hatred of One Piece is socially constructed. Meaning that environment like worstgen can create a social pressure for people to adopt a negative vision of the story. Negative vision that - I know for a fact - can also be influenced by the material condition of the reading.
You don't have to agree, but this is my stance on the matter.
You are full of moral panic.
lol
I was banned 1 month for denouncing a fascist rethoric. And transphobia is still unmoderated on this forum. Calm down now.
Let's not transform this thread into a real political thread.
Unless your goal is precisely to remove and invisibilize it from the One Piece section.. in which case... go ahead..
Perhaps. But does this make me wrong about the situation tho?
2 Questions
- Why do you equate a nerf with bad writing ?
- Do you consider whitebeard being sick and thus not being at one hundred % on marineford a bad thing... or a good thing ?
Depending on your answers I will have a different essay coming.
We are. Society to be stable and peacefull requires all people to be and feel safe. Anything else is a free for all
Perhaps. But I'm not advocating for an authoritarian moderation, I advocating for a more inclusive and more positive system. Nothing similar to OJ or reddit.
I actually want to keep positivity AND negativity. I simply want the system to prioritize the first in order for the fanbase to grow and strive.
Worstgen is not the worstplace, its just an EXAMPLE of what I'm talking about. I fought for Worstgen because I believed the moderation had the wits to create something hybrid, something punchy, something edgy, something political, something punk. SOmething that would be both inclusive, positive and highly critical aware. A place for people to read One Piece, to learn about storytelling AND to politicize on the side.
I've said it before , I wantED worstgen to hold up to its name. I expected a bit too much, that's true.
But this is what happens what you hold illegitimate expectations. You get disappointed.
