The like system is fine as is. Copypasta also isn’t the problem. What people are sick of is when a user continuously spams utter nonsense on literally every single post or comment on this forum, things that add absolutely nothing to a conversation or are otherwise boring/pointless. If someone is doing this kind of thing, they can reasonably expect a drop in support; if they can’t figure out why, that doesn’t mean we need to tear down the system and start over. If this is about post quality, the onus to be better lies on the poster.
Well yes, not to be too critical, but I'm afraid one of the reasons why the Copypasta movement turned so popular was farming likes.
Of course I don't feel everyone cares about Internet Points as much as I do at all.
But even then I want to get free from my liking count in that it's like possessing something that truly doesn't belong to you.
In my opinion the quality of the forum would rejuvenate with a change, under any possible aspect.

On a second thought I believed any kind of limitation wouldn't completely solve the problem in that circlejerks would still be a common matter to be seen around.
What I'm sorry about is to witness the controversy of this system that currently has me as numerically the best member on WorstGen, however I would be lucky to rank in the hundreds.
It's something quite unsightly and bothering to me, perhaps many users don't give a damn and I'm too weird. :)

Beta please, respectful and articulate criticism should never be taken personally, especially if it comes from a friend. They don't want to harm you, an enemy could do that.
I'm saying no one can escape criticism. If you choose to listen to legitimate criticisms, then you are showing maturity.

This thread was never supposed to be about me, Melo.
It is not rightful to discuss about me, we are discussing about a forum system and not a single member.

I have stated the reasons why I want this system to be substituted for another system and it would be nice if more and more users stated their feeling about this, as Pantheos suggested.

But this topic is meant to be about the pros and cons of the current system and another system, it has nothing to do with me specifically as an user member.
I mentioned myself only to entertain an example meant to channel my thesis with more energy and arguments about what it feels off about this system, by precisely stating how I don't deserve to be recognized as most liked member; my profile posts conduct has nothing to do with the original purpose of this thread.

I wasnt even aware there was a leaderboard. I dont particular understand the reason for it since pretty much anyone can farm for posts and likes and it doesnt really make it valid. I wouldnt want a medal system either. Likes are cool to acknowledge to each other that we agree with a post. Even to sometimes seek attention with someone. Sort of like a "notice me senpai." It doesnt reflect how good of a poster is though. Regardless of how people feel about Beta, he does bring up solid points.

There should be some clarification. Is the purpose of this thread is to affect the leaderboard? Because I don't give a damn about that.

Indeed, I believe most users don't equate likes to quality, they have a brain.
However this is also why this system is broken, it's a controversy.
You can either make it stay the way it is and don't care about its controversy or opt for a better one providing merit.
The point is the liking system shouldn't truly be acknowledged and defined as what you describe but unfortunately it is the way it is. :P

The copypasta is a joke between users who post to each other’s walls, and it’s never done to people who explicitly ask to be removed from the game. Other users you mentioned have been asked to stop posting incessantly on multiple occasions, and their choice has always been to forge ahead and double down. I would appreciate us acknowledging the distinction here - copypasters fuck with each other and leave everyone who doesn’t like it alone; the other user has continuously shown that being asked to stop won’t have any effect on his habits.

You’re arguing for what you believe is a better rating system, but who is it ultimately meant to benefit if not you? The cons for the other system outweigh any benefits, all of which you’d still find in the current system. You’re calling the current way a “childish circlejerk” due to people liking bullshit posts from someone else, but it’s clear by your tone AND motivation for posting this in the first place that you’re really upset about not benefitting from the same. You can’t act like this is the first time someone has made the distinction between you commenting utter gibberish on EVERY single post, sometimes twice or three times, and other people telling the same inside joke to each other. If less is more, than way more is too fucking much.
When?? The admins and mods never said this, and anybody who’s publicly asked to not be involved has been left out of the game entirely. When’s the last time someone posted other people’s comments on your wall, MD?? You’re railing against something that doesn’t happen to you.

Everyone would benefit from a different system, not just me lol. And I certainly didn't mean that I'm not upset for that complain I made about users liking my posts less and less, I even outright confirmed so. But this is not the object of this thread.
I also explained I genuinely believe another system would be better, not because people don't like my posts anymore. I presented solid arguments for my thesis and I didn't start off like "I'm crying, no one likes my posts anymore".
