many people including Kaido fans expected the scabbards to damage him, there obviously a twist coming and all this damage won't mean much on the long run

beside the battle started and Oda is still building up sub plots for the future( BM have a plan, Black Maria song have a meaning, Orachi return ), hence Kaido Saga is still far from over

Odens feat was obviously superior but the point is you dont need to be ultra strong and a powerhouse to damage Kaido and humiliate him. Especially his useless Dragon form. Freaking Raizo and Kinemon handled his boro breath which probably is Kaidos strongest attack in his Dragon form.
