Yes I believe so. The biggest factor is that he cannot be killed no matter what they do. He has been defeated many times before so defeating him is not an issue but how to properly kill him is the main crux of the issue.

Kaido is full of contradictions. His introduction (WSC, 1 v 1 King, unkillable) and what we're watching now are at opposite ends of the spectrum.
Either Oda messed it up or he will come up with something big.

To everyone saying it wasn’t JUST Akainu vs the commanders.

We get a line from an escaping pirate that goes like this “Sengoku and the Blackbeard pirates over there, Akainu and the commanders over there! When will it ever end?!?”

Not only is this direct evidence that it was Akainu by himself vs the commanders for some significant amount of time, it’s also meant to be symbolic.

Sengoku (the old fleet admiral) vs the new generation (BB pirates), Sakazuki (the next fleet admiral) vs the old generation (remnants of the WB pirates).

Im pretty sure that comparison was intentional on Oda’s part.

and awakening, you forgot awakening, kaido kinda reminds me of frieza, who struggled with piccolo and krilin in weaker forms

Explain how Marco was seen busy with fodders then? Akainu was the leader of the marines at that location, why mention Rear Admirals who are just human shields for the commanders?

Hes already been human form. The scabbards had him on his knees.
His head is coming off. No two ways about it.

I didn’t say it was Akainu vs the commander the entire time.
All I was saying was that there was at least some significant period, even if brief, where it was Akainu vs ALL of the commanders.
