- Oda paying respect to Boichi for adapting the Ace novel by giving Yamato the good boy Senku's hair. It would be sick if Yamato is the white tiger to counter Kaido's dragon.
- Why do the fishman and the bear have to ride outside on top of the seatrain and all the humans inside? Kumamoto prefecture, I am disappointed.
- It's still surreal that Enma's color went from a black yang to Ame no Habakiri's white ying to a lilac blade that even looks like a bright magenta in the anime opening. Zoro's most colorful blade at the very least.
- Kaido is a demon in one translation and an ogre in the other. Not clarifying much about his race.
Perospero not giving me a lot of confidence here. He looks intimidated out of his wits like he's dealing with Hunger Pangs. He'll say whatever he needs to redirect her wrath. I can't honestly believe he'll stand by Big Mom's decision and do a 180 on his decision to sabotage the alliance. He has been given a new role by having Carrot thrown at him, but I'm not sold that Perospero will revert to being a loyal foot soldier just like this as the only Big Mom pirate on the skull.
This is rather ominous for Big Mom's future. She doesn't understand what Marco is saying here, she believes the Whitebeard Pirates are being uppity because there is no captain to boss them around anymore. Marco and remnants are not disrpecting the will of Whitebeard now that he's dead, this IS what their pops would have wanted. Whitebeard was not a tyrant. His sons were not his servants. Whitebeard gave his crew so much freedom to live the lives they wanted, the ties of fake family bonded them together but the only iron rule was that they don't kill one another. Big Mom, in contrast, uses family blood to bind her children into serving her as subdordinates, marriages and children as a means to grow her own power.
It's not as if Marco was unfree while Whitebeard was alive. The reason the conversation is phrased like this is to most likely foreshadow the fate of the BM Pirates after Wano. Big Mom has been heavily involved in the arc and this is her resting place. Will Big Mom die? Will she be locked in Impel Down? Will she be reformed and sent back to Tottoland as a different woman? It's not going to be a tyrannical Big Mom ruling her children through fear and force anymore. At that point in time, the remnants of the Big Mom pirates will gain their own freedom. What they do with that freedom could be what Marco is doing here. Luffy and Katakuri wouldn't have to stand on opposite sides as enemies anymore.
I'm sorry, Usopp, but Carrot's observation this chapter is next level. All the way from the banquet hall she spotted Marco and Perospero, last time we checked in on them they were approaching the entrance.
Maybe Carrot really does have a bright future as a lookout for the Strawhats. Or maybe Marco and Peros almost joined the party before they saw Big Mom rolling the other way and ended up back in the entrance.
The lyrics telling us Yamato and the boy will never be together. But there are some legitimate options here for people who wish to be united but for one reason or another are not able to:
- Momo and Hiyori - siblings separated by time
- Kin'emon and his wife Tsuru - Kin'emon needs to survive the war first.
- Hitetsu and the person Hitetsu is waiting for - ???
Yamato was vouched by Luffy. At some point Shinobu and Momo need to learn to trust the head of the alliance. But just let them keep running, I'm sure they'll finally give Black Maria something to do. A showdown between red-horned women could answer something about their race.
Probably the most forgettable attack by people's reaction to the chapter, but it's a beautiful sibling team up between Kiku and Izo. Funny that Kiku rocking the armor and making a striding pose is looking far more masculine than Izo passively shooting here. It looks like Izo combined his gunfire with Kiku's disk slashes which is why his rounds are slicing. I won't really get it until I see how the anime brings this attack to life.
Kamawatsu's attack flew over me initially. Amazing to see a new fishman fighting technique. He performs a slice on Kaido's snout and this is the aftermath. Simimlar to Fishmen Karate's projecting attack that Jinbe uses to hit at range but in sword form. The rings are likely ripples of water particles vibrating away from the zone of impact.
Raizo wrapping is one thing, but sealing something in the scroll is another. It's pretty obvious Raizo can't seal Kaido himself even after he zips all over the place and wraps a giant scroll around him. Still, an interesting thought experiment to see what attacks Raizo could theoretically trap and then unleash -- Mihawk's flying slash? Whitebeard air quake? Bartolomeo's barrier crash?
MPV of the chapter without a doubt. The exact pattern of the scroll is the one Raizo is holding in his mouth. Not as big obviously. If that scroll is his ultimate technique, it's fantastic that Oda teased it back in his introduction. But I would like like an explanation even by SBS about ninjutsu.
This one really clarifies Oden and Kiku's words. Rather than fighting over who is Oden Nitoryu style's best kiss up, the Scabbards trained separately to compete in who could develop the best unique fighting style. That doesn't mean they completely neglected learning Ryou and Oden Nitoryu as at least four of them bring it back home to Kaido:
A X broken down into 4 linear cuts. Not that hard to coordinate with the mark already on Kaido's body. It's easy to say these four amount to 1 Oden, but Kaido has grown stronger in the past twenty years. On a side note, Inu was also the only Scabbard that got to show off against Kaido twice this chapter. I think we now know what Scabbard was Oden's top dog
Dragon Kaido was brought down by Luffy, brought down by Oden, brought down by the Scabbards. Unfortunately it's his weakest form, I would say the same for just about every Zoan user out there. Next time, the return of Kaido's club? What's an oni without a beatstick?
