I just realized Mihawk is a legend comparable to the PirateKing, Right Hand of PK, and Dragon himself
and 1000 is Luffy the next PK
Mihawk > Big Mom, Koidu, Lakainu, Lizaru
Then if they knew it’s a pity. Editors did cry at 986...

The newest editor is much more vocal and it is pretty annoying.
I think they felt threatened by OP losing the top space and wanted to create artificial hype.
It backfires since people believe in that hype instead of simply following the flow of the story.
Its been established long ago that interviews by editors and also by oda should be disregarded in many circumstances

Don't think the alliance loses, but I think the 5 v 2 that's about to happen will result in the 5 losing against the 2 yonkou, and that drake, marco, and hawkins will replace zoro and killer in the fight.
It's just unfortunate that Drake can't be there to carry him anymore.

Yeah this is definitely a Jump issue and not an Oda one.
All he did honestly was celebrate 1000 logs as they call it and really nothing more. Jump decided to do a whole countdown, promote it on their covers, had tons of advertisements about it, etc.
Tbh, the chapter seems great to me as if its read as another chapter. Luffy finally seems to have gotten one clean blow on a Yonko (maybe, we gotta see how Kaido is next chapter). It also initiates battles truly starting

His "old rubbish" isn't the importent part of the chapter. Its this mystery goal Luffy has and Roger has. Which only seems like it can be achieved by becoming PK.
Its definitely not ending on 1002, not sure what that user is saying. Thats only 8 chapters from 995, which is where 99 is starting. Volumes are 10-11 chapters long, always. There are very few exceptions and most of them are earlier on in the series.

Tbh, it's not oda's fault if 1000 doesn't live upto the expectation.
Many of us already knew this is entirely possible because there was no official statement.
More so, 1001 could be better than this.
But, this is huge milestone so I don't know why oda doesn't feel like giving more impact in the chapter. There are many ways to make luffy saying "I will be PK" more impactful
