Excellent chapter. Really makes a difference when Oda focuses on one scene instead of cutting and changing between.
That view of Rocks is very interesting, because it’s not Shanks or Blackbeard he looks like, it’s Dragon. Now, Luffy and Garp are definitely related, but do we have one of those “take the mothers name” situations that shonen seems to love? Is Dragon actually Rocks son and had a child with Garp’s daughter, or am I just reading too much into a silhouette? Rocks was apparenlty a terrorist more than a pirate, albeit one who wanted to be King of the World. The anti-Dragon? I think I’ll still be expecting Rocks to be Shanks’ father, but it is a very interesting new tangle.
Zoro finally cutting fire- and quite casually- is another blow against him vs King happening (along with how the entire fight was portrayed). Instead of being hugely built up as a hypothetical struggle between him and King goes on, it’s something he throws out casually at the beginning of a fight with much stronger opponents.
I do like the Wano faces, stupid as they are. Makes me laugh.
Told all of you the scythes were the nerf, not any stupid “mental trauma.”
I think that’s a good place to move away from the rooftop fight for now. Everyone shown something and it’s ended in quite a dramatic place. Expecting Oda now to cut to and get the other fights resolved while the rooftop goes to the background, to be the focus again once they’re all done. Going forward you can see what the challenge for Zoro and Kid will be- Zoro hasn’t mastered Enma yet, Kid should try and learn Luffy’s haki so he can actually punch Kaido. Luffy definitely has a new form to use, Bounceman has been thrown out too casually since Onigashima began. Law and Killer, not so sure about.
All BM gives a fuck about is the Poneglyphs quite clearly, she’s out for some backstabbing.
Also as an aside does this not really remind folk of some weird twisted family where the dad is busy playing with his five sons while mum want’s to get a move on because they’re going to be late?
