  • This humbling was PART of the journey. A way to grow. The SAME is happening for Luffy now, but not simply in term of situation, in term of thematic TOO. Both Carrot and Luffy were humbled based on their cockyness, the fact that they didn't took the situation seriousely, over estimating themselves, laughed at the danger. Now the question is why did Oda never followed up on Carrot... ?

My guess is that Oda had plan to create that follow up in Wano, but decided otherwise and rather than doing it here, he would do it LATER. This is the main reason why I still believe Carrot's character arc to be incomplete. The second part of Elbaph, the aftermath of Imu's attack, would be the perfect time for Zou to reappear.

    Nice fanfic..
Oh... I by the way. Nakama thread people, Do you remember what I was saying about chapter 1006 and the humbling of Carrot ??
We paralleled Rayleigh with Zoro and Gaban with Sanji.. But the interestingly Gaban is closer to Zoro and Sanji, Rayleigh

    It's not that deep, chief

It's just a fun interesting thing. Zoro is highly self aware of himself and other and tends to overstressed in situation when the people he admire (like LUffy or Sanji) are slipping up, this is the feeling I get from Gaban here, I get the same "wake the fuck up feeling", something that is highly related to self worth too (like Sanji ofc).

Now for Sanji, I feel the same gentleness that is present with Rayleigh. Calmer, gentler, more relax and less centered on his own potential rather than the one of others. Which reminds me of Sanji.

The two figure have a lot of similarities with both strawhats
After all, we are talking about the ancient civilization, were IA and clones are lightyears ahead of Vegapunk.... Perhaps Joyboy was a little genius. Perhaps he left something more than the One Piece.. A training program with AI quirks? (that would be legit funny to get that storyline now)
Wait... I just had a crazy thought.. What if the last mentor of Luffy... was Joyboy himself?
Wow.. so it seems like Netflix completely destroyed Aang's character in the adaptation.. O_O - Exec morons as always

Man I remember the first time watching Avatar Aang, a rong rong time ago........

It's like a fever dream remembering the days go by and seeing the plot go on, I don't remember exactly when I started watching it, I guess at least around the time they were showing that mystical speaking turtle island

I watched it for the first time 7 or 8 years ago.. and it imprinted my mind so much I finished the comics too.. This anime deserved a bright, smart and kind live adaptation but I won't stand for a Aang that is barely smiling.
By the way, did you noticed that Luffy's observation Haki or "voice of all things" is already powering up? Check back chapter 1151

No idea, but it seems to be important. It's the second time something weirder than usual happens with Luffy's "voice". The first being in Wano when I was able to talk to Momo under water. This time, he can sense the voice of specific characters (Chopper here)... it's strange
What if blackbeard found a way to absorb Imu's devil fruit?

Also, it often goes under the radar, but Usopp is the third natural conqueror of the strawhat crew (before even Sanji). It's just that what he wants to conquer is himself. His haki bloom in dressrosa was not coincidental. Usopp constantly tries to surpass himself. Within the lore of One Piece, this makes him a King

Dude can't even stop acting like most coward pirate at presence of slightly strong pirates. I have seen the Yonkou fodder army have more guts than Ussop

I've never seen cowardise from Usopp. Anxiety? Yes. Fear? Always. But Usopp always get through. He is a king, just wait, he will show you.

It's interesting because since P-TS Oda has been contantly placing one or more characters playing for this role in each arcs for humorous effect (Law/Fleet/Pekom/Pekom/Kid/Bonney/Loki)
It's the Rival/protagonist interaction. That you can easily find in shows like My hero, or Haikyu. Until the P.T-S, Luffy wasn't really "challenged" that way by other characters outside of the strawhats
This is interesting because this type of relationship has not always been a constant in One Piece. It's in fact something that gradually appeared in the New world (and slightly before with Impel Down)
